Okay, so I guess I'm unwelcome here. I don't like being continuously told by someone that my opinions are basically worthless, let alone being dishonest or irresponsible are not my intentions. Thanks, I'm done with this forum.

Oracle -

You are missing the point. This site is one of the most accepting places I've ever seen on the internet. If you are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, Catholic, Protestant, Buddhist, Muslim, Atheist, Agnostic, Taoist, tall, short, fat, skinny, male, female, Caucasian, African, African-American, Chinese, French, English, or any other classification is immaterial to the vast majority of people that post on this site.

Hell, we even accept NetDoc. :)

There are (at least) two truths about this site -
1) Your views and positions will be challenged by someone, and you will not be allowed to make statements without providing evidence to support your postions - regardless of which side of any aisle you sit on.
2) If you read the other posts closely, you will often find that you have allies in places you did not expect to find them. As an example, I am not a homosexual, but I will viciously defend our members that are from the ignorant bigots that stray in from time to time. In this specific thread, Deut is defending the right of the Catholic Church to define itself as it sees fit. Deut is probably as far from being a Catholic as a human being can get, but he recognizes the right of the Church to set it's own rules and regulations. His point is that if someone (anyone) does not agree with those rules, they should do so from outside the organization. Only in a democracy is one encouraged to change the rules from within. The Roman Catholic Church makes no bones about it - it is NOT a democracy, nor does it look to become one.

I would hope that you would reconsider leaving the forum. You are most certainly welcome - just be prepared to have to examine your stance on any issue that you decide to participate in.

Thanks,
TVOR

sorry if someone gave you that impression. but You are. its nice to have diverse opinions. please stay! i apologize on the behalf of any rude person here...

"I think that the Pope has the right to do as he wish, to preserve the Catholic faith, because to a certain extend if you make Catholicism too liberal it would no longer be Catholicism. But I'm just wondering, do actions like this preserve Jesus's message of love, who sat with the tax collectors and sinners and ministered to them? Why be intolerant to other sinners when we are all sinful? Although the thread topic sounds biased, my point is not to be against the Pope but to question the logic of such a perspective. I think you all have good anwers concerning the matter."

sure, the pope CAN do what he pleases. But i can see the distinction made between Jesus' message and the Church's teaching. God Loves everyone, regardless. this is called unconditional love. ministering to gays and lesbians is basically what jesus did. he ministered to women, to lepers, to sinners, to jewish priests, to everyday people, all and everyone. to judge someone because of thier sexuality goes directly against the core of Jesus' messege.

Oracle,
Just because people disagree with you, it doesn't mean they think your opinion is worthless. It just means they don't share your opinion....at least on this issue.

I find the RF one of the best boards on the net for allowing people to express their opinions and debate them without being personally attacked. Stick around. Get to know us. :)
