Whats going on is no different than what has gone on in the past...it's just another time of vocal differences on a few key issues but it's not gonna lead us into some sort of revolution on it's own. Something else will have to happen before something really bad happens.
The politicians, on the whole, are still elitists who smoke cigars and drink brandy together regardless of what side of the aisle they come from.

Second... Equip every TV with a BS-Chip, which is similar to a "V-Chip", but far, far more useful.
Third... Shoot every politician that spends more than %50 of their advertisements flaming their opponents.
Fourth... Sink the Swift Boat Veterans.

I would first start with disbanding the rpublican and democratic organization.
Then, I would form two new political parties, based on logical decisions rather than polarization.
However, I do want to maintain at least 2 somewhat dominant political parties, that way if someone in one party messes up, the other party can cry foul. Checks and balances.

It would be unlikely any 2 parties would agree on every issue, so there would be shifting alliances. The 3 parties would have to work together to get important legislation passed. With 2 parties, who ever has the numbers runs rough-shod over the other.
In my opinon politics today are spliting even christians into groups and this is very sad. I had someone tell me because I was a democrate I was not moral and therefore a christian in name only.
I felt like I had been physicaly attacked why should I have to defend my christian values just because I happen to be a Dem. ?

If it were possible to allow a popular third party into the Presidential debates, it would help a lot, but there's no hope of that. The two major parties would stonewall that.

COMMUNICATE!!! We have crossed over into a place where people actually don't like each other because they don't agree on an issue. They don't talk and don't communicate and therefore have no other interaction than their argument over a certain issue. What they need to do is subscribe to a forum where other ideas and thoughts are offered and that way they can realize that just because someone doesn't hold the same opinion as you, doesn't make them bad, it doesn't make evil, it doesn't make them wrong, it just makes them different. And what makes us different is what makes us great!!!Sunstone said:

I don't live in America so my picture of what it's like over there is rather incomplete.
What I think is that demonization is the norm, to an extent it is everywhere, and it helps no-one.
It seems Americans use certain terms to discredit ideas before the can be explored. 'Socialized' medicine is one I've heard. 'Whiny Liberals', 'Unpatriotic' etc etc.
