      Haha, thanks. :D
Looks like it's still pretty common. I think it should be adopted as a term on RF. :D

You're welcome. I've read up to the second chapter on Knowledge and Truth. I enjoyed Pirsig's ideas in his book immensely, very original.

You may enjoy this article on reality, although it references specific books that you may not have read. The Pragmatists, especially the Americans, have a brilliant take on it.

      robertpirsig.org : Pirsig and Pragmatism

"We might add that there is a logical reason why a reality that consists of quality cannot be described but only denoted; it is simply that if quality is primary, then it can have no more primary qualities belonging to it. Whilst we can describe an object by its qualities, and only by its qualities (the stone is brown, hard, heavy etc), there can be no further description of any quality in itself (this brings to mind the familiar problem of how one could describe a colour to a congenitally blind person for instance. It is impossible to do so properly because a colour is an experience, however as Peirce and Pirsig state themselves, an experience may be denoted by recourse to analogies of that experienced quality)."

      Hey!
Just wanted to say happy belated birthday!
I was grounded and couldn't go on RF even to say happy birthday to people. I hope 18 is a great year for you.(:

Hey man! After further comparative experimentation, I do also tend to prefer Stoicism. Part of the reason is situational. Like if we could all live on an isolated commune with our friends then Epicureanism might carry more weight, but the Stoic Method does help more for all of us working poor.

I love Pope Francis, though. I think he's a good man with his heart in the right place who is trying to make real positive change. Change in the Church is very slow, though. So whatever he does will have to be carried on by his successors, and I hope it is. Benedict, honestly, wasn't really cut out to be Pope and so I respect his decision to step down. He's more of a bookish type, really. I feel that Francis is a breath of fresh air need to remind the Church of its mission and we need more like him. Hopefully it will be the start of a new and good chapter in the Church's history. Lord knows we need it.

I respect the office of the Pope. It's an extremely difficult position to be in and surely it has been misused, especially in the past. They are often torn between the politics of the Church hierarchy, which can be pretty backwards, and guiding the faithful to be closer to God. When it comes to what they say, I take it on a case by case basis. When what they matches up to Christ's teachings, I accept it. If it's just more political stuff, I tend to disagree.

There's always a way, some have to work harder than others - but by doing so they come out stronger. It's a trend that I've noticed: People that have pulled themselves up from being completely money-broke ended up being better with money, saving more. People that have pulled themselves up from loneliness and low self esteem ended up becoming more confident and independent. People that have pulled themselves up from lack of motivation became better at time-management and more schedule oriented. Etc

We all have our puzzles in life, figure out yours.
    Enjoy the journey. Grow. Become.
