The bilbe says that we are made in God's image, yes. But it also says the world is flat. There are still people who believe in the Christian God even though the Catholic church has come out and said, "yes, ok, the world is round." If there was extraterrestrial life found, the church would...
ah, correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought there was historical proof (besides the bible) of Jesus' existance. Hasn't it been proven he lived, he had a mother named Mary, a father named Joseph, a brother named James, and he died on the cross.
well, my point was more that all religions have the same basic values and beliefs, not that every person of every religion should be forced to join with all other religions.
I personally just don't like the way that some people who are so intent that they're religion is right that they are...
It's great that we can save lives with it, but it brings up the moral question of whether we should be tampering with life. We are mortal creatures who are suppost to die. Is it our place to stop a disease that should have killed us? Before we know it humans will be able to live forever...
Oh, right sorry. Misunderstood you. Yeah, I kind of believe that "god" is a collective term for all higher powers worshipped by all religions. It's the same being in different forms.
So if dinosaures aren't real because the bible says so, does that mean this church maintains that the earth is flat and is the centre of the universe just because the bible says so?
I've been thinking lately, and one of the things I've been thinking about is that having separate religions is stupid.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't all religions have the two basic beliefs of a life after this one, and in being kind to one another? Why do we have so many different...
So, really what we've deduced is that 'God' didn't create the universe, but more like man created 'God' as a way of explaining the universe's existance?
Just as I've thought all along.
It amazes me that we are on a religious forum site, and no-one has brought up the actual definition of God. You all seem to assume that when we talk about a 'God' that we are talking about the Judeo-Christian version, unless otherwise stated. I would like to know different peoples oppinions on...
umm........correct me if im wrong, but the name lucifer literally means 'learned people' does it not? I've heard a theory that the story of the devil, or 'lucifer', is really just the church's way of making people believe that science is bad and to turn away from it and embrace the church.
ok, i have a question 4 Gerani. i enjoy exploring religions n have a slight understanding of hinduism, but im still uncertain of how hindus believe u exit samsara. is it through continuing good deeds, or what? because i read sumwhere that u can reach the plane of existance of the gods through...
