There is an app from Election Commission of India which tells us the percentage of people who have voted in the election in each constituency and in each state. They give out 2-hour revisions. Helps the politically aware of what is happening in individual constituencies.
As for law and order, the news channels give prompt information.
23% vote in Kathua constituency in Jammu & Kashmir till 11 am. Hindu majority with 10% Muslims. High voting in W. Bengal constituencies - 35% where there is a keen contest between Narendra Modi' BJP and TMC's chief minister Mamta Bannerjee. Stone throwing has been reported in Cooch Behar.

In Mauritius, the sale of alcohol was banned on election day. That probably stopped those silly Hindus who came as indentured labour from throwing stones.
May India choose the right people so the growth can continue.

Here in India, alcohol is clandestinely provided free after voting and throwing stones as a reward. Officially, liquor sale is banned on election day.
However, the first phase passed of comparatively safely except for the death of a security person in an IED blast in Chhattisgarh.
Overall, 63% voting. just about the normal. Highest 80% in Tripura and lowest 48% in Bihar. Bihar low voting may hurt BJP.
Second phase poll on April 26 involving 13 states.

Has press freedom deteriorated that badly? A controlled and/or crooked media are the bane of any democracy.
On the other hand, if the people have internet access and the ability to find views and news from other sources/countries, then I don't suppose it could be that controlled.

Indian General Election, Phase II today, 13 states, 88 constituencies.
The Indian Supreme Court rejected all appeals against the way elections are held in India:
1. Voting by Electronic Voting Machines.
2. 100% check on paper slips vis-a-vis what Electronic Voting Machines show. At the moment 5% are checked as sample.
3. Voting by ballot papers.
It issued two directions and has suggested bar-coding on Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail slips (VVPAT).

Sure, in olden days, there were no fake videos, misinformation by AI/Robot generated articles and posts. A scrutiny is necessary. Foreign governments have meddled even in US elections (if you are from US). We have the same problem here with internet reaching 820 million (of the 1,428 million) people). All social media sites are open, strictures are put on some material which the government considers harmful. If any one differs then the person/organization can approach the courts.

Third Chapter of the long (six week) Seven-Chapter of Indian Election Mahabharata today. 11 states, 93 seats. Narendra Modi and Amit Shah (Home Minister, may be the next prime minister of India) vote. 40% voting till 1 p.m. Overall, 60% voting till 5 p.m. Phase 1 and II accounted for 190 seats. So, by today, it makes 283 constituencies, i.e., more than half (total being 543). Some violence in Bengal, but that was expected.
These countries total 858 million. India still ahead by 111 million.

Fourth phase of Indian General Elections tomorrow (May 13): 10 states, 94 constituencies
That includes election in the Kashmir capital, Srinagar.
Assets of Yogi Aditya Nath, Chief Minister of India's most populated state (Urrar Pradesh - pop. 257 million for the last 7 years) and Member of Indian Parliament for 24 years prior to that (IMHO, a possible Prime Minister of India at some later date): USD 114,882.26
He would not be able to buy any of our four apartments in Delhi.
This is the type of people who are with the ruling party in India. Corrupt people would have made billions in this time period.
Richest among the most important Triad of Bharatiya Janata Party is Home Minister, Amit Shah, who declared assets worth USD 4,826,935.
I have posted information about Modi's 2019 assets earlier. He is going to file for his candidacy from Varanasi on May 14. I will post his current assets as soon as I get the information.
In Contrast: Alamgir Alam, Congress legislator and Minister of Rural Development, Jharkhand state, with Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.
Recently, a hoard of money amounting to USD 4.19 million was found with the servant of one of his associates.
For such cases,investigating agencies have to bring in note counting machines.

SRINAGAR: The Srinagar constituency of Jammu and Kashmir voted on Monday to choose its next representative to the Lok Sabha — the first election there since the general election of 2019.
And the voting figure broke all records. In absence of any boycott call from separatists or fear of violence, 38 per cent people came out to vote — a first in 35 years and highest since 1989. Srinagar had recorded 14 per cent polling in the last general election.

Oh, PM Narendra Modi has grown richer in the last five years. His assets in 2019 stood at Rs. 2.51 crores (USD 3,006,000), today according to his affidavit in the application for the candidacy for a parliamentary seat, he has shown assets worth Rs. 3.02 crores (USD 3,617,000) of which Rs 52,920 (USD 634) is in cash. He does not own land, house, or car.
The affidavit further shows that PM Modi's taxable income doubled from Rs 1.1 million (USD 13175) in fiscal year 2018-19 to Rs 2.35 million (USD 28100) in 2022-23. His salary is fixed at Rs. 200,000 (USD 2,395) a month, so the increase must have come from rise in allowances because of price rise and interest from his fixed deposits.
