I'm watching professional bull riding and I'm wondering who was the first person to look in a paddock and say, I reckon I could ride that.

Really? How quaint.

I read a novel a few years ago by Lindsay Davis. Set a couple of thousand years ago. Our hero, dodging a Roman patrol leaped over a bush and landed on the back of an aurochs.

The following chapter was quite hectic.

It's the first time i heard of someone riding a bull aven though it was fiction.

Maybe that's the real story of how it happened because I can't imagine anyone doing it voluntarily.

Hot winning news of the day.

My dad is retiring. I never thought it could happen. No more jumping on the backs of cows for a ride ;-)

In a couple of months he'll be 77. To me he should have given up 10 or 12 years ago but he loved it so much and he says it kept him young. Which is worrying, does retirement mean hes feeling old?

My goodness. Just checked my email. I can have bagels delivered from New York within the hour.

Or do you think it may be spam?

I'm a year older than your dad but I'm retired long since. Of course I'm going to ask you what he says when you ask him. As for me, I was either going to quit my job which I had done earlier or retire. And I was tired of dealing with big corporate bureaucracy and had no interest in start-up demands for endless work.

I never though he'd retire, i really though he'd die in the tractor seat. He thinks he's done enough and wants some fun. i.e. he and mom never been to France he wants to visit and see everything.

wow...you ARE old.........

But I would have retired a long time ago too....about 6 years ago.....if I had the time I needed...but then it was not all that bad then.....but now..... all I can think of is getting that heck out of here.....3 years and 9 months to go...but who's counting.....

there is something that could keep me longer...... but not much longer....

Someone here thinks this makes him invisible.
If he can't see me, then by the transitive
property, I can't see him.

Repeating posts over and over and over again is NOT winning. Maybe a thead: the most creative post is the winner. I volunteer for judge and jury.
