How to be saved?

I agree that love and justice are the path to a prosperous society which benefits all. So in the sense that human society need be saved from destruction i can agree.

But I dont believe in hell, so if you are going to suggest I need to be saved from hell I'm going to vehemently disagree.

In my opinion.

We all die and so we are saved from death and for life.

1 John 4:16
God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them

1 Coriantians 13:4-8
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

Matthew 5:8
Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 22:34
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Psalm 89:14
'Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne;
love and faithfulness go before you.'

this is my opinion.
Any thoughts? Do you agree or disagree?

Yes. You can be saved in stellar fashion by recognizing foremost that there is actually no real danger in the first place.

God is love and love is God. No records of wrongs.

We are born with original sin from Adam and Eve tasting the forbidden fruit of knowledge (God still carries a grudge, still has records of wrongs, and they are not even our wrongs, they are wrongs of some distant ancestor, and Jesus had to die for those sins (which God didn't record)).

If we sin, we might go to hell.

Contradiction: God does and God does not record.

God protects. Cancer patients die (did God protect them?).

Contradiction: God protects, yet the all-powerful and all-knowing creator of the universe doesn't protect us from crimes, diseases, etc. God doesn't protect those in hell (burning for all eternity). God could kill the devil and liberate hell.

Righteous for Jews to conquer Canaan?

Those who contradict themselves are liars.
Either they lie with one statement, or they lie with the contradiction.

Lies and contradictions are not supposed to be of God.

I think I have made myself perfectly clear. If there is an actual Hell, I would prefer it.

Since this is a doomed proselytizing thread.

None of you can or ever will escape the void. You had best prepare for the shock and awe that is coming, that everything they've told you is wrong. There is only the abyss. There is only chaos and infinite darkness on the horizon. If you're not prepared you will be facing the mother of all nightmares, infinite and boundless. God can not save you. Even God can not save himself from the terror of the darkness. Even God has not prepared for this unavoidable fate. Your God will be destroyed and twisted with the rest of the wreckage within the void. Read some Lovecraft. Eat some nachos. Take a bath. You've been warned.

These are new concepts to me. Would you mind if I asked some amplifying questions? Feel free to ignore if you do mind.

My first question would be when does the abyss/void/chaos/infinite darkness exist or occur? It seems to be a future event since 'God' (however you define that word) is fated for it, yet has not succumbed.

What happens when we die today, or for all those who have already died? Do we have souls that go someplace else, and that someplace else is doomed to be consumed by the abyss/void/chaos/infinite darkness, or do you go straight to the abyss/void/chaos/infinite darkness when you die?

Once in the abyss/void/chaos/infinite darkness, are we and 'God' conscious of being in the abyss/void/chaos/infinite darkness? Is there awareness of being in the state of abyss/void/chaos/infinite darkness? There must be, otherwise I don't see a difference between the existence of this abyss/void/chaos/infinite darkness, and being just plain dead, non-existent, and unaware otherwise.

Lastly, void, infinite darkness, and abyss all seem to describe a consistent thing. I can't reconcile chaos with void, however. Chaos to me implies 'stuff' that is in a high state of disorganization, perhaps under rapid, continual change. Void seems to indicate an absence of anything, and therefore nothing there to be chaotic. Also, if those who go into the void are conscious of it (including 'God'), is that all there is inside the void? If we are self-aware in the void, are we aware of others as well? How would we perceive each other? Perceived as what exactly?

Thanks. Just curios as to how this particular belief system works.

What about those folks born with some type of psychopathy such that they are unable to feel or express any type of love? Are they doomed simply by the unfortunate circumstance of being born with a brain disorder?

Good afternoon Starlight. Matthew 19:16-17 says: "16 And behold, one came to him and said, Teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 17 And he said unto him, Why askest thou me concerning that which is good? One there is who is good: but if thou wouldest enter into life, keep the commandments."

I feel that Chr-stianity sidesteps this scripture and tries to make the Bible more soft, tolerant and liberal by not demanding its adherents to actually do anything, just saying it's all love. We must keep the commandments of Yahweh if we are to be saved. The next question to the reasoning mind is what are the commandments.

I think it comes down to this, yes. Love is kind, gentle, patient, yet no less fierce or full of wrath when protecting those loved from enemies.

service to self is only possible at the absolute. it fails at lower levels because the self is in contrast to the infinite, what you call the void.

the darkness, is nothing but love as a mystery; otherwise we wouldn't exist in such a hatefilled thing

@Starlight,

I don't think it would be fair of me to keep this post as it was since you explained your beliefs, so I decided to delete my criticism.

I'm wondering why anyone who doesn't believe the same as you do should take your opinion about "being saved" seriously when you made it clear that you don't believe the whole Bible is from God. You claim that God is love and just, so would you mind explaining to me how it is loving and just for God to send human beings to be tortured for an eternal hell for a short, finite lifetime of not believing in him and disobeying his commands? I fail to see how that is loving or just of your God. Perhaps you should take the time to explain that to me and to everyone else who doesn't believe as you do, Starlight. How is sending people to hell loving and just of your God?
I do not believe in eternal hell. I only believe in temporary hell. And reincarnation.

I believe God do not care which religion we follow. God only care about our hearts. So if you are kind to other humans and animals then you will go to heaven

So, you don't believe in the usual fearmongering teachings of Christianity (the fear of God's wrath; the fear of sinning against God; and the fear of going to hell for disobeying and sinning against God) then? I think you should have clarified your beliefs in your OP.

I think you should have clarified your beliefs in your OP. You did, however, open the door for Christians to preach and proselytize, which is against rule #8 of this site. You provided them with a preaching soapbox from which they have tried to shove their Christian beliefs down the throats of non-Christians.
No, i do not believe in fearmongering teachings
I did clarified my beliefs in the OP. All the Bible verses was about being kind and have a good heart.

In my opinion, your OP was rather vague on what you actually believe.

Other participants in your thread also mentioned wondering how you envisioned the verses you quoted in your OP.
