5 PM, News from India.
India has vaccinated 20 million people today on Prime Mnister Modi's 71st birthday.
There is still time till 12 PM. Let us see if we can notch upto 25 million vaccinations in a day. I do not have details, they will follow.

As they say in India "Modi hai, to mumkin hai"
(If there is Modi, then it is possible)

"New Delhi: India crossed two crore Covid vaccinations in a day for the first time as the government raced to deliver a record on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday today. The government set out with a target of 2.5 crore vaccinations."
Record 2 Crore Jabs So Far, Government Aims At Birthday "Gift" For PM

FYI: PM Modi's assets total USD 340,000 after after 12 years as a member of Gujarat Legislative Assembly, 13 years as Chief Minister of Gujarat State and 7 years as Prime Minister of India; 1/3rd of it in form of a piece of land that he bought in Ahmedabad ages ago. He does not own a car.

The last time i read the news, they were injecting tap water to the gullible public because they ran out of vaccines. lol
1. It is possible and may be resorted to if there is a crowd and refusing to vaccinate them may cause law and order problem.
2. The opposition parties and media (in our case BBC, NYT, Guardian) would say so even if the ruling party distributes nectar to people.
Get the picture now? :D

22.6 million vaccinations till now. 11 pm here and my last post today.

Can't say it's bad news.

What's next I wonder? Will things return to the old normal?

If they do 4 million jabs a day then they'll reach 75% herd immunity by the end of June.

I would like to go to India next October for Diwali.

@Aupmanyav how early can I book train tickets? I want to go by 1AC sleeper

That would be very concerning, if true.

Do you have actual evidence of the BBC, the NYT, or the Guardian actively distributing falsehoods about your administration's COVID efforts?

Final count 25 million.
With 2.5 Crore Vaccinations, India Creates World Record On PM's Birthday
Awaiting information about statistical manipulation, if any, and to what extent.
Will things return to the old normal?
Things do not change in India easily.
Let us see if it stops the third wave. Things seem to be under control at the moment.
Kerala alone is the big worry with 22000 new infections and 178 deaths yesteray.
We have people in Kerala. They say the infection is in rural areas. Big cities are nearly free of it. We have to go to Cochin next month. Hope things improve.

No problem about that even now. India has not come to a stop. Some states, especially Kerala may have entry and exit regulations. These can change any time.
That would be very concerning, if true.

I am not aware of any such happening, but I accepted it as a possibility somewhere in India.
Too many to count, and that is irrelevant as far as India is concerned. These media have near zero reach in India. They are for Western consumption.

Was I there at thousands of vaccination centers to count how many? Indian media (investigative journalism) and opposition parties are hale and hearty. They would bring out the information. I gave the Google news link which has report from many news agencies. Here is today's link, check for yourself: https://news.google.com/search?q=17th September vaccination in india&hl=en-IN&gl=IN&ceid=IN:en

So you can't back up that claim.
We do not see them, they do not enter our discussions. Writers of anti-India articles are sought and paid by them. We have hundreds of news channels and newspapers in scores of languages. They are enough for us. What they do in West is irrelevant, it is for Western consumption. The Western governments know about India very well. I do not think they are affected by anti-India propaganda.

We do not see them, they do not enter our discussions. Writers of anti-India articles are sought and paid by them. We have hundreds of news channels and newspapers in scores of languages. They are enough for us. BBC has an associate channel in India, which is reasonable. We see that. What they do in West is irrelevant. The Western governments know about India very well. I do not think they are affected by anti-India propaganda.
I'm not talking to the people of India, I'm talking to you, an individual person, who made a specific truth claim and then refused to back it up with evidence.

I suppose, since you don't feel like making that minimal effort, you're also fine if I don't buy into your claims and consider them misinformation in service of a xenophobic paranoia that's sadly all too common among nationalist governments of any country.

Now, I will not search BBC and Guardian for anti-India rubbish to discuss with you. I do not have time for that. As I said anti-India propaganda in West is irrelevant for us. No problem if you disregard my views. That does not cause me a weight-loss.

Indians.

Nearly 900 private satellite TV stations are on the air, around half of them devoted to news coverage.
India's press is lively and there are around 17,000 newspaper titles. Driven by a growing middle class, the cumulative newspaper circulation figure is more than 400 million.

There were 560 million internet users by March 2019* (InternetWorldStats.com, citing the Internet and Mobile Association of India, IAMAI), the second largest number of internet users in the world after China.
