Should murderers have the right of anonymity?

I would think that the only people who need to know the name of someone who has committed a murder, would be the family who lost a loved one. It is not necessary for public to know
But we don't need to know who was murdered but that was plastered all over the media.

I do not know NZ law on the matter. But the name of this murderer is of no interest to me. Nor would knowing it serve any useful purpose..
When he eventually leaves jail he could change it anyway.

Who did it may be important because often people who had had lesser attacks by the same person will have the courage to come forward.
Well then they are affected by the person, but still it does not need to be public in newspapers or TV all around the globe.

Because...I suppose the man has certainly no English heritage....so the PC policy promoted by the Prime Minister of NZ does not want media to underline the anthropological factor in a brutal murder like this.

Btw...here in Italy when the perpetrator is foreign, newspapers write their name, nationality, religion in clear letters.

That's not a good reason. The courts are separate from the government.
The BBC says the anonymity is likely to be overturned

Does it matter who the person went on a date with? Would it be in the news if it was average Joe? No It would not, because that does not sell more newspapers or media does not gain off of it. Names and who they are, are published mostly so the news organizations can earn money from people being curious, not because it is important to know the name
But she obviously knows the killer - others may not realise, I'm sorry but it builds a picture, it is important that who the killer is is published

May it be that she does not judge the person (killer) and see something within the person that she like and has accepted that, yes the person may have killed someone but anyway she chooses to be with him? Maybe she thinks that everyone have done something bad in the past, but she focus on the present moment? I do not know, but it is wrong to judge her for her choices

I have no problem with them being anonymous until found guilty; but afterwards there has to be a very good reason.

Some year ago (about 6 i think) i worked as a barista in a coffeeshop, and at the time it has been a lot in the newspaper about a married couple who was found guilty in murders many years ago, when i was at work, suddenly the woman stand in front of me and ordering a coffee was the woman from the news. To me she was just a regular customer, and she ordered a coffee and something to eat. But in your mind, should i have refused her the coffee? Just because a judge had sentenced her to 20 years in jail many, many years ago? If the case had not been in the news that much, it would still not have mattered who she was, she was just a normal customer to me. No matter of i knew she might have done what she was charged of have done.
