When can the West begin colonizing again?

What do you mean "other people"..? We're one human race. Why can't I buy property freely?
I mean those who aren't you. You aren't entitled to their property, you aren't entitled to buy land where the laws would prohibit it. They are, however, entitled to have their rights, property rights, and national sovereignty honored and respected.
Most of the rainforest needs to be protected like our national forests are.
You can't protect the if your building an excessively latge home there, or any home at all.
You should be glad that you're not stuck there, and can leave there with whatever accreditation and certificates you have to anywhere else in the U.S. you want... Why not have even more choices?
I do consider myself very fortunate that I had the means, support, and help getting moved to California. Life has been a million times better since I moved, with vastly more opportunities and freedoms than I ever could have had in Indiana or Missouri.

We can make it together. All we need to do is start talking about it. It's how grassroots ideas take hold.

The government's are mostly incompetant. It takes regular people to make progress a reality
No. Not interested. You say governments are incompetent yet you wish to give them more power.

What are you talking about "give them more power"..? I encourage you to try to help these people come out of poverty, unless you don't care about starving children.

I'm talking about power to the people. To buy, sell and trade freely and without fear. It's what makes America great, and can help other people.

Er, who do you think is going to own or administer these colonies? The government, duh.

It's not my country's responsibility to save the world. Much of the problem is from the world police mentality that the US foreign policy has. We should work together with other countries, but it's mainly their responsibility to fix their problems. Local tends to be best at dealing with issues. Coddling will just lead to resentment and is a bit racist in its implications.

Then I want a wall, and an increased ICE presence. But I thought I'd put the offer on the table first.

That is a cop out and won't fix the problem. You want to fix the illegal immigrant situation? Decriminalize drug use, tell the government to stop meddling in the affairs of Latin American nations and prosecute companies that hire illegals as slave labor (that includes Trump's companies). As for the illegals who are already here? Offer a path to citizenship to working people who otherwise are law-abiding and deport the serious criminals. Doing those things would fix at least much of the problem. But it's much easier for those who hold the power in this country to stoke the fires of racist hatred and give us fake solutions that just feed the military-industrial complex. It's a trap. Trump is false opposition. If he was for real, he likely would've been assassinated by now.

Sounds like there's nothing in it for me... Which makes it seem boring.

Why have we stopped colonizing when so many of our immigrant neighbors are leaving their lands and joining us. Is this not a sign that they need us to come govern them?

...Also, can we focus for a minute on how colonization can be a positive rather than a negative, and explore that possibility? I mean for both us and them... Not like it used to be... I mean a *new* kind of colonialism, one more modern and progressive.

You mean do unto others, as the UN would have them do unto you.

Colonizing is like bullies showing up and pretending their way is better. It often tries to remake a culture and that is not very nice to assume that the colonizers have the better way. It sure did not help the native Americans.

Who said anything about changing their culture?

But anyways, they expect us to take in their overflow, because the conditions they provide are terrible... Yet we're supposed to *pretend* like their economy or "culture" is equal to ours.

...That's politically correct (PC) nonsense.

Maybe we need a new form of colonization. Maybe we should send entertainment centers chock full of flat screen TV's and video game consoles to these countries that have been suffering from losses due to migration. Once we have them hooked on Red Bull and they have become mindless media zombies always running around with their heads buried in an iPhone, they would be more pliable to the next phase.

Exactly, there need to be reserved areas, to protect these precious animals. Also, with this new colonialism, we could expand our environmental standards.

...There are positive aspects In regards to this.
You do realize that nations like the United States have the largest ecological footprint compared to many of the countries in areas you want to preserve through colonization.

Yes, but starving people come first -it has to... And the solution to that is creating factories. But while addressing that issue, we can also work on accomplishing it with the smallest ecological footprint we know of.

Didn't we send all the work overseas when we chased industry out of this country?

That is a trend that is growing in this country and many are paying more attention to how we use resources. It is a trend in the right direction, even if sometimes we take silly steps.
