I still remember buying the Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album in the Summer of June 1967.

Of couse, me and my friends had already had Revolver and Rubber Soul which were a preview of what was to come, but still Sgt Peppers seemed to be a cosmic shift from the yeah yeah yeah days.

I went into a store about 10AM, this was not a record store per say, it was almost like a 7Eleven because it had even simple food products, but they had announced they would have the "new Beatles album".

Sure enough. There they were, STACKS of them. Literally - and they were selling them like a lot, a queue was already formed. You pick one from one of the stacks and get in line.

I don't recall what I paid for it - that's actually a good question... what did the album sell for in the Summer of 67 in the US? Anyone know?

I do know, I didn't have enough and borrowed the cash money from my mom. "Please! Please! - I will pay you back!"... never had to, it was my "birthday present".

I recall opening it, which flipped open, finding the "poster" inside, etc., it was really cool. And I wasn't the only one playing the album that day. I recall going into my backyard, hearing the sound of the song "We're Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, We hope you will enjoy the show"from the distance. They must have been playing it very loud.

I think the most interesting lyrics of Beatles songs comes from the 1966 studio album Revolver and the song Tomorrow Never Knows - adapted from the Tibetan Book of the Dead:

Not really a Beatles fan but they did have a few good songs. I have found the idea of having Yoko Ono naked and wearing an NVA helmet low crawling around on a filthy carpet while I pop her in the *** intermittently with a pellet gun completely satisfying but not in any sexual kind of way. This is one of their best according to me:
