Why Is the Killer of British MP Jo Cox Not Being Called a “Terrorist”?

In a sick and twisted way, it makes sense to me. Breivik was trying to get attention to his ideas. If he had committed such a horrific crime against the Muslims themselves they would get all the sympathy. Which is not what he wanted.

You know what else gets repeated over and over? That Muslims are massacring other Muslims because of NON-muslims. How does that make sense?
Tom
For Breivik massacre.
No, it's does not make any sense,it's very probably a lie.

The West just want to insert "Islam" in every massacre as cover.

the fact that the Muslims are massacring Muslims because non-Muslims (by the help),it's happening in Iraq, and Syria, and Libya. and happened between Iraq and Iran and in Afghanistan ...etc

The Western (USA,Europe,Russia...etc) massacring them selfs (and the world) in WW1 and WW2 more than Muslim massacring them selfs.

I believe next WW3 there would be no USA or Europe or Russia in map of the world.

Murderers, full stop
What about religious fundamentalism/extremism that often goes with it?

All kind of killing is an act of terror, whatever the reason, still terror.
But i see it odd to combine religion with terrorism, a Muslim terrorist, whereas in other cases
just a crime or a murder ..etc.
If the crimes are at least partially motivated by religion then I don't see what's wrong with mentioning the religion. When ISIS are throwing homosexuals off of buildings and citing Mohammad/Quran as their justification for doing so, surely it makes sense to mention the ideology?

You, but not the media.
"The media" is not one big entity. There are plenty of media outlets who call for the use of the word Terrorist in cases like this; and it is not just the "western" media that is biased.

That's right: it's never the muslims' fault. Any infighting or violence between muslims is always the fault of the west or sneaky jews.
Muslims can do no wrong in your eyes.

No I don't meant that.

Also West had dirty hands.

The West (along with all other powerful countries) has dirty hands.
So do muslim countries. . .

People must take responsibility for thier own violence: the Sunni/Shia violence started long before the rise of the UK and US.

I am talking just in where the dirty hands insert in by West,as Iran/Iraq war,and Iraq invade, and Afghanistan vs Soviet Union, and Libya and Syria .

West did not take it's responsibility in Iraq and Libya and Syria.
It's take their responsibility to burn it up

In the collective mind of most of the west, Islam, Arab and Middle Eastern culture, and politics are inextricably intertwined.

Crimes, killings, terrorism commited by Muslims have been overwhelmingly in the name of Islam or Islamic culture, or for some purpose related to Islam.

And Muslims killing other Muslims is (killing in the name of Islam), is it hard to realize what's going on.
Many Syrians died, many Iraqis died and still dying, they're Muslims Sunnis and Shia.
How that is in the name of Islam?

Because the ones doing the killing think they are the true Muslims and the ones they are killing are not, and need to be eradicated.

A debate between me and @Aquitaine about whether the killer of UK labour MP Jo Cox
was a terrorist which is what i think of him while Aquantaine think of it more to be an assassination
than terrorism,

What do you think of this crime of killing the Labour MP Jo Cox, is it an assassination or a terrorist act?

The same thoughts i found in an article by Glenn Greenwald.
https://theintercept.com/2016/06/17...itish-mp-jo-cox-not-being-called-a-terrorist/

First I've heard of it and upon reading the article you reference....

The use of the term assassination is entirely irrelevant in discussing whether or not it was an act of terror.

I shouldn't have to explain that to people.

More important is the fact that the discussion of Britain leaving the EU have been postponed by the actions of this individual. Even if he was "mentally disturbed" one has to question if he was influenced by those who opposed Britain leaving the EU. What separates his mind from that of those join ISIS from other nations and are willing to engage in a murderous campaign.......even through assassination.
But the notion that assassination excludes terrorism.......no. Simply no.

Here's a question..........does one need to be labelled a terrorist for simply being upon a larger group identifying the same or is one simply a terrorist by enacting an action to enact fear among a populace? It's the latter.

From what I read from Reuters this individual did in fact carry out an act of terror, murdered an MP that conflicted his views and imposed a punishment while laying claims to ties of other groups who sympathize with his views with his claim of "Britian First"....and the resulting action from the government was to delay their decision......due to an act of ............ terrorism. That is the definition of what terrorists wish to achieve.

And just to state.........for perhaps the first time.....I agree with FearGod.

This was an act of terrorism. To be honest it"s a quite clear act of terrorism

Answer to the title:
Of course not. He's not Muslim, right?

Any reports on what kind of act Mateen's was decided to be?

West Yorkshire Police say they are investigating Mair’s mental health, as well as possible links to right-wing extremist groups. When asked by the judge to give his name, he replied, “My name is death to traitors, freedom for Britain.”

By Mateen I mean the Orlando gay club shooter. With that question I was wondering how the verdict of two cases can be related.

Not true because they don't choose who to kill, when the suicide bombers explode themselves in one
market then how they know who's the true and not true Muslim among many innocents include children.
