The Sum of Awe
Brought to you by the moment that spacetime began.
I am not sure if anyone here has payed attention to my rants on subjective-objective reality on here, but it are those rants that I cherish to the max. They were my first realization, my mind went into cruise, I watched my mind think on its own, even though the thoughts were mine. This realization is the mass that gravitates my other opinions and philosophical thoughts.
It brings upon a stunning amount of advantages for a way of life. That's why I'd like to stress on them more, not having really mentioned them in a while, they are just getting dusty.
In contrast to solipsism, there is a world beyond the self. But in contrast to realism, the existence we experience is so drastically different that we are pretty much living in different realities. Or in a sense, different presentations of the same, objective reality. I'm convinced that the difference between how you and I experience reality is so large that we cannot even begin to comprehend each other's experience of existing. It is different beyond what we imagine it to be.
Your world and my world are separate versions of the same world. So what can we do with this information? Well, first we have to look at what actually interferes with perception. But before we do that, we have to know that perception is the reception of data of objective reality first inserted through our sense organs, then to our mind, and delivered to us in thoughts. Thoughts are probably the unexact equivalent of atoms to the mental plane of existence. We see the mind from thoughts, and most of the mind, if not all of it, is constructed by thoughts. In fact, thoughts are the compilation of other thoughts. But another basic element of the mind is emotion, they are created by thoughts too but they are also a characteristic of thoughts.
Those two things are under the control of our illusory 'will' that we perceive ourselves as. Not all people have the same strength in the ability to control them, but with practice you can pretty much train them to structure the way you want them to. You can apply certain emotions to certain thoughts over time, and you can apply certain thoughts to certain experiences. While you cannot make yourself feel happy about a bad break up, but with knowing that the only world you actually exist in is your mind, while also knowing the mind can be trained to structure according to your will, you can control thought patterns relative to the break up so that the intensity of value in the relationship is lowered and thus so is the amount of unhappiness derived from the break up.
So there's an example of the first trick you can do, control the severity of pleasure and pain with practice. This is not to be confused with anything ridiculous like never feeling pain, or always being at peace. This is limited to controlling a balance of pleasure and pain rather than reversing their states.
Another thing you can do with this knowledge is to explore reality in depth. When one realizes that the world they experience is one entirely subjective to themselves, they also realize not only the insignificance of exploring objective reality but the absurdity of it too. The objective reality is very distant from us. Think about subjective reality as tinted glasses, the perceivers (us) as people wearing them, and objective reality as a tree. All people have different colored tints on their glasses, and all people see different trees. This is a simplified understanding of it, because in the real world subjective reality is far more complex than just seeing a different color tint. But instead the experience of the tree is different in every way even if the projection is the same (same size, same shape, etc.) The only way we have any touch on the objective reality is through pure mathematics which is a minority of the experience of things.
This distant relationship means that the worlds we separately live in are distant enough that it matters not what is objectively correct, subjective correctness is all that is needed. Along with ourselves being able to move around in all of our subjective reality (as it only expands to a size (nonphysically speaking) we use momentarily), we can learn a lot more about the nature of the world we exist in, and how we exist in it, how our existence plays out in subjective reality and the psychological footprints we have in it. This knowledge brings forth a small taste of enlightenment. A quote to relate to this is: "Knowing others is wisdom, knowing yourself is enlightenment." somewhere along those lines.
And lastly, another important tool to come with this is the knowledge that experience generates thought. It is what you experience that constructs potential thoughts, as well as it is how you experienced those experiences that constructs the nature of thoughts. It's a big loop, and as wild as it may seem it is very simple when you take a step back. It might look chaotic but it is truly deterministic, and once you know the determining factors you are able to control this apparent chaos, this giant loop of things controlling other things controlling themselves. In my opinion, it's very important to know that you do not exist in reality, you exist in your mind. Without mind, there is no experience, and thus you cannot leave the mind. All that you will ever experience is not reality, but experience itself.
Disclaimer** I'm not claiming any form of enlightenment or perfection in the art of controlling my reality. I am still experimenting and working on it. I always will be. There is no such thing as perfection in this, but there is such thing as life-changing. The fact that you control what is around you and always will be able to, to me, is amazing in itself.
