a question about paradise...

How do you get from loving God to not knowing who your son is?

I don't think you do forget about your children. That verse only proves that we're supposed to love Allah. I'm not sure what he's trying to say either...

I'm admittedly confused.

i find that disclaimers are often used to soften the blow of the reality of the truth of the matter. personally as a mom i couldn't even imagine forgetting a loved one...and anywhere i go there will always be an empty spot...no matter.

maybe, trruth doesn't have children....that's the only thing i can think of that would explain such a bizarre response

That's the only conclusion I can reach as well. I can't imagine forgetting my children for a nano-second, and I can't fathom the idea of resting in paradise while my child is tortured.

As I said before, there HAS to be a better answer. I just hope to find it.

I don't think you do forget about your children. That verse only proves that we're supposed to love Allah. I'm not sure what he's trying to say either...

I'm admittedly confused.

i am talking about faith,brother.

We are all consisting of the same material,flesh,bones,blood......etc.
and our family ties transferred from one generation to the other one,
so your grand grand grand grand.....grandfather before hundreds of
years and thousands of years is not similar to you now and the children
of our children after thousands of years is not similar to us,because of
marriage with different families.

You love your son and you fight anyone who will try to hurt him because he
belongs to you,you got the faith that he is yours and that you should protect him,
exactly the same that we are debating and fighting for our faith on religion,
christian will say,my religion is the right one and the others are wrong and
he will protect his faith because he believes that it belongs to him and he
dont care if his religion is right or wrong, the same thing for muslims
and judaism they got the faith that their religion is the right one and
they might fight to protect their faith.

You love your son, shouldnt you love the son son son son son of your son,
because what he got from you of genetic code will pass it to his children
and so on.

Do you have to think about all the children coming to the world that they
came from you first then to the next children for thousands of years,
so leave it to the owner of all, all of us,leave it to the first, the source
to the creator, put your trust on him and please dont think that i am
protecting my faith :).

i just believe that the universe should have one creator,he is not in our
earth but far away in the heaven, logic

The earth and it's galaxy will be destroyed one day,and the universe is
expanding, every thing have an end, like our lives have an end,but the
owner of the universe is everlasting, logic

i am not preaching here for one religion or another but just expressing
my thoughts.

the only thing is your childrens childrens childrens children are not known to you on a personal level...

are you a parent?
if you are not then why try to answer the question?
 because in your defense of your faith you are being self defeating.

i do understand that you love your children more than anything else in this world.

Now if your son is an officer in the army forces and he was called to prepare himself
to defend his country and he may die or being a hostage.

Will you accept him to go and fight to protect his country and he is your lovely one
in this world.honest reply

Yes of course, you can see my lovely son as my avatar,

i do ask my god to protect him on earth and the afterlife,
nothing we can do else.

ok thank you...

then can you imagine paradise without him?

That is a honest reply really, you cant stop him if he wanted to,
and every one of us got the free well to do what he wants to,yes
you may feel pain that you know that you may lose him but
he insist that he want to go and fight.

We cant save them on earth, even from diseases, such as cancer
or whatever.

God bless us and our children on this life and the afterlife,Amen

to add to that though...
paradise, at least in my mind, is a place of no hurt or worries
how can one not feel these things knowing their child is not there?

by our teaching to our children and our request and pray for god to gather us
again in the paradise.

We got 2 prospects

God is an illusion
God is a reality

if we have a faith that he is a reality and obey him, then we will lose nothing,
but we may win if that prospect was true

for the other prospect that we guess him as an illusion, then without doubt we
will lose if it was not a joke but a reality.

What i meant to say that we will lose nothing if we believe that god is a reality
and obey him for the good deeds,is it bad to do good deeds?

That is my opinion, and i do respect yours :)

that may be...however if this god is a reality...then the reality of feeling sorrow is real in paradise...unless you maintain that everything that ever meant anything to you will be forgotten.

sister if you don't mind i'd like to give you some examples/explanations regarding this issue.

i will begin by asking some questions, they are not trick questions just answer based on what you know.

the following is a war scenario where you are a muslim and a child of yours is not a muslim and he/she is fighting against muslims and is armed.

1. your child is not a muslim while you are, are you allowed to kill your non-muslim child according to islamic law if your child is fighting and killing other muslims?
2. would you kill anyone who fights against Allah even though they may be your child?
3. is the love of the parent towards their child greater than the love of Allah towards his creation (lets just say i refer to humans by creation)
4. would Allah wrongly and unjustly send someone to hell?

i hope you don't mind me asking those questions.

I don't mind you asking me these questions at all. I don't have an answer for you though (just being honest). I suppose part of it is that I have all daughters. :p

In all seriousness, the scenario you paint is one that is so far-fetched for me that I can't put myself in that position.

I'll answer #3 and #4:
3. The love for children is different than the love of Allah. IMO the two can't be compared. The love for your children is one of bonding and nurturing, and the love for Allah is one of awe and worship. Apples and oranges, IMO.

4. I certainly hope not, and I don't believe He does.

May i ask you an easy questions, sister

Do you believe that your relation with God is just worshiping,Apples..etc.

Arent you glad that he brought you to life and give you your lovely daughters,
just what you remember that your love to him for apple, foods and worshipping.

Worshipping is just an expression to thank him for what he made for you,
and he even do not need it,but just away to tell him thank you god and
to protect you from evil deeds.

God protect me and my children, you have brought us to this life and we
are always weak and you are the strongest, put your mercy on us,and whatever happen,i will always obey you.

but to say foods,so your children also will love you because of giving them foods,
aple..etc and they should in return respect you for that givings from you,oh never, think again about it pls :)

thank you for your honesty, i value that more.

i tried to find the hadith which i know that answer question 1&2 but i had no luck.

for question 1 and 2 the following is the answer, anyone who fights against Allah and his deen (religion) is an enemy of Allah, who is an enemy of Allah is an enemy of the muslim ummah. whoever wages war on Allah's religion or the muslims is to be killed in defense by the muslims. that includes anyone's child who is a non-muslim and part of the enemy army. the best example from the hadith is that of Abu Bakr and his son. at the battle of Badr, Abu Bakr was with the muslims and his son with the enemy. when his son latter became a muslim, he recalled the battle and said to Abu Bakr that he was avoiding him so as not to fight his own father. Abu Bakr replied saying that if they had met during the battle, he would have killed him regardless of being his own son.

anyone who is fighting against muslims regardless of their relationship to you, must be killed otherwise he will kill muslims.

as for question 3, Allah loves his creation more than a mother loves her child. according to Islam, we must love Allah more than anything, then his messenger, then our parents. from Abu Bakrs example, it is clear that he loved Allah more than his son, which is the correct thing to do. if he had not wished to kill his son because he is his son then that would mean he loved his non-muslim son who wanted to kill muslims more than he loved Allah. the reason why we must love our parents is because through them Allah gave us life. however, why must we love the Messenger more? because through him Allah has given us the keys to paradise. but why must we love Allah more than everything? because he is what caused everything, he it was who gave life to us, to our parents and to their parents and so on, and it was him who sent the messenger and it is him who created paradise for his servants.

i have some information and hadith from the site below:
Mercy of Allah: A lecture by Shaykh Zulfiqar Ahmad(db)

Examples of Mercy

Allah is extremely merciful. An idol worshipper used to worship an idol named Sanam. He sat up calling the name “Ya Sanam” all night, and towards the dawn he started getting drowsy and so he mistakenly took one of the Glorious Names of Allah, “Ya Samad.” Allah immediately turned His attention and asked, “What do you want My servant?” The angels said in astonishment, “O Allah, this is an idol worshipper and only took Your Name in forgetfulness.” Allah said, “This person calls on these idols all night and they don’t answer him. What difference is there between Me and the idols if I don’t answer him either?”

Allah wants us to seek forgiveness and come towards Him. Hadith says that the Messenger of Allah was traveling and stopped on the way at a village. A woman was cooking at a fire nearby and he noticed that she constantly had to push her child back who would come forward. She said to the Prophet, “I work with this fire all day, my son wants to play with it but I have to push him back all the time because I’m frightened for him. If Allah loves us more than we love our children, how can He put us in Hell?”

Hearing this the Messenger of Allah sat with his head bowed and his eyes filled with tears. He cried for some time and then said, “Allah does not want to send His creation into Hell, but it is man himself who buys Hell for himself through his disobedience to Allah. He forgets where he has come from and who his Caretaker is. He does not seek forgiveness from his Creator.”

i would encourage you to read the rest of the article as it speaks about this topic quite well and should answer your questions.

let me know what you think, whether you agree with what i have said or not.

Thats true,brother.

One good example also is the story of our prophet Abraham(pbuh) and his
sacrifice of his son Issac, but god is a merciful.

Adam and Eve did not obey god,did God punish them by the hell.
God is merciful,he brought our children to life, then we are worried
about them from him, they are not our invention, they are his creation
similar to us,we shouldnt think that we do created them because of s..x.

Brother eselam,

I will read the link you posted. :)
All I can say is I hope I'm never in the position you've presented.

May i ask you an easy questions, sister

Do you believe that your relation with God is just worshiping,Apples..etc.

LOL no, I think you don't understand the expression. "apples and oranges" is a way of saying that they're two different things. In this case, I was saying that the type of love we have for our parents and children is different than our love for Allah.

Arent you glad that he brought you to life and give you your lovely daughters,
just what you remember that your love to him for apple, foods and worshipping.

Worshipping is just an expression to thank him for what he made for you,

Of course I'm grateful, I'm not sure where you got the idea I'm not.
