a question about paradise...

is it going to be a place where sex occurs...an experience that only the carnal body has experienced? and will babies be born in paradise because of this act?

i'm asking this in light of the passage that refers to the 70 virgins...

thank you in advance.

The most honest answer that I can give you is that I have no idea whatsoever. IMO, paradise is described in terms that we can understand; in other words, the real paradise is something that we cannot fathom as "mere humans", but is described in words that we can envision.

My basic understanding is that its inhabitants will be in a state of eternal peace. You can have anything you want, and there is no jealousy...so each person has "their" heaven. All of the details are unimportant when looking at the big picture. :)

There is a huge misunderstanding related to paradise...
This misunderstanding is because of trying to understand the hereafter based on this world.

The hereafter is another world...another reality...

[Deleted by author...it found to be misleading]

1881. Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Allah, the Exalted, has said: `I have prepared for my righteous slaves what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and the mind of no man has conceived.' If you wish, recite:
`No person knows what is kept hidden for them of joy as a reward for what they used to do.''' (32:17)
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

There is a narration that says something like this:
An apple in the Paradise [or may be another fruit was mentioned] has nothing in common with an apple in this world except its name...

So trying to imagine Paradise based on the enjoyment of this life is nothing but a hallucination.

[Deleted by author...it found to be misleading]

The Quran is filled with the description of the Paradise, where the highest enjoyment there is acceptance from Allah:

سورة التوبة - سورة 9 - آية 72
وعد الله المؤمنين والمؤمنات جنات تجري من تحتها الانهار خالدين فيها ومساكن طيبة في جنات عدن ورضوان من الله اكبر ذلك هو الفوز العظيم

Allah promiseth to the believers, men and women, Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide - blessed dwellings in Gardens of Eden. And - greater (far)! - acceptance from Allah. That is the supreme triumph.

Best wishes

P.S.

My above answer may be misleading...
There is sexual intercourse in heaven..,

This misunderstanding is because of trying to understand the hereafter based on this world.

The hereafter is another world...another reality...

For instance, in the soul level, there is no difference between male and female...
I mean there is no male soul and female soul...

So that is a different world...That can't be imagined based on this world...

There is a narration that says something like this:
An apple in the Paradise [or may be another fruit was mentioned] has nothing in common with an apple in this world except its name...

So trying to imagine Paradise based on the enjoyment of this life is nothing but a hallucination.

As of the 72 virgin story - which is very popular in some countries where Islamophobia is rampant- if this story has a source, it must has been taken from a book that has been written in the second century after the death of the prophet, where these books are filled with these kind of stuff.

The Quran is filled with the description of the Paradise, where the highest enjoyment there is acceptance from Allah:

Here is a small chapter from the holy quran, that has lots of descriptions od the Paradise, and mentions talkings between its inhabitants where they talk about their previous worldly life:

Sura (chapter 52) : The Mount

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

1. By the Mount (of Revelation);

2. By a Book Inscribed

3. In a Parchment unfolded;

4. By the much-frequented House;

5. By the Canopy Raised High;

6. And by the Ocean filled with Swell;-

7. Verily, the Chastisement of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;-

8. There is none can avert it;-

9. On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion.

10. And the mountains will move.

11. Then woe that Day to the rejecters (of truth);-

12. That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles.

13. That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly.

14. "This", it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny!

15. "Is this then a magic, or is it ye that do not see?

16. "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds."

17. As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,-

18. Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Chastisement of the Fire.

19. (To them will be said: ) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds."

20. They will recline (with ease) upon couches arranged in ranks; and We shall wed them to Maidens, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes.

21. And those who believe and whose seeds follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds.

22. And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire.

23. They shall there exchange, one with another, a cup free of frivolity, free of sin,

24. Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them: youths (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded.

25. They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual inquiry.

26. They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people.

27. "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Chastisement of the Scorching Wind.

28. "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!"

29. Therefore remind: for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no soothsayer, nor possessed.

30. Or do they say:- "A Poet! We await for him some calamity (hatched) by Time!"

31. Say thou: "Await ye!- I too will wait along with you!"

32. Is it that their intellects urges them to this, or are they but a people transgressing beyond bounds?

33. Or do they say, "He fabricated the (Message)"? Nay, they have no faith!

34. Let them then produce a saying like unto it,- If (it be) they speak the truth!

35. Were they created of nothing, or were they themselves the creators?

36. Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, they have no firm belief.

37. Or are the Treasures of thy Lord with them, or have they control over them?

38. Or have they a ladder, by which they can (climb up to heaven and) listen (to its secrets)? Then let (such a) listener of theirs produce a manifest proof.

39. Or has He only daughters and ye have sons?

40. Or is it that thou dost ask for a reward, so that they are burdened with a load of debt?-

41. Or that the Unseen in it their hands, and they write it down?

42. Or do they intend a plot (against thee)? But those who disbelieve are themselves ensnared in a Plot!

43. Or have they a god other than Allah. Exalted is Allah far above the things they associate with Him!

44. Were they to see a piece of the sky falling (on them), they would (only) say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!"

45. So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs, wherein they shall be thunderstruck,-

46. The Day when their plotting will avail them nothing and no help shall be given them.

47. And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment besides this: but most of them know not.

48. Now await in patience the command of thy Lord: for verily thou art in Our eyes: and celebrate the praises of thy Lord the while thou standest forth,

49. And for part of the night also praise thou Him,- and at the setting of the stars!

ok...so lets just say...
you have a son that you love who doesn't believe in allah or is a rejecter of the truth when he dies...
will you remember him when you are in heaven, will you be aware that he is in hell while you are in heaven?

i'm asking this in light of the passage that refers to the 70 virgins...

thank you in advance.

A man will have intercourse in Paradise with his wives from among al-hoor al-‘iyn and his wives from among the people of this world, if they enter Paradise with him. A man will be given the strength of a hundred men to eat, drink, feel desire and have sexual intercourse. It was narrated from Anas (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The believer in Paradise will be given such and such strength for sexual intercourse.” He was asked, “O Messenger of Allaah, will he really be able to do that?” He said, “He will be given the strength of one hundred (men).” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, no. 2459. He said, (it is) saheeh ghareeb).

With regard to children, the scholars differed as to whether children would be born as a result of this intercourse or not. Some said that there would be children if the man wants them, but the pregnancy and birth would take just one hour. Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (may Allaah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “If the believer wants a child in Paradise, the pregnancy and delivery will take only an hour, then the child will be the age that the man wants.” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, no. 2487; al-Daarimi, no. 2712; Ahmad, no. 11339; Ibn Maajah, no. 4329). And Allaah knows best.

the 70 virgins are what is part of the reward for those who die in the path of Allah and for his sake and pleasure. not all men will receive 70 women, everyone else will have their wife from earth if they both make it to paradise and 2 Hooris.

What Will Happen If We Miss Our Beloved Ones in the Hell, Despite We Are in the Paradise?
It is said that although we are in the paradise, if we miss any our beloved ones in the hell, Allah will send angels in the appearance of them. Is it true?

Answer:

• In order not to disappoint His servant who is in the paradise, Allah, the All Compassionate, may create an angel in the appearance of his beloved one; if He (swt) wishes. Because He is the All Powerful; has the power to create anything He wishes.
• Or Allah (swt) may never remind His servant in the paradise of his loved one who is in the hell.
• Or Allah (swt) may alienate His slave in the paradise from his beloved one in the hell by showing his horrible situation. In a hadith narrated by Bukhari, it is informed that Prophet Abraham will see his father, who was an ingrained denier, in the appearance of a “hyena”. The cause of this situation is commented as: “to alienate Prophet Abraham from his father who is in the hell fire and thus, not to sadden the distinguished Prophet about him. I must say that
My above answer may be misleading...
There is sexual intercourse in heaven..,

Also
Some of the replies may not reflect Allah's generosity in rewarding his slaves...
The kingdom of the lowest person in paradise is bigger than this earth...

There is no comparison ...

I am disappointed that Muslims think the afterlife is going to be just another materialistic world and we will have bodies as we have now. I think here you should refer back to the hadith where Muhammad (SAW) said that heaven and its bounties are such as no eye has seen, nor has any ear heard, nor have they been conceived by the mind of man; whereas we see the bounties of this world and hear of them and their thought also passes through our minds. So why are Muslims here trying to liken it to our life here.

To avoid confusion here, understand that all of its descriptions are not to be literally taken, if you do so you are contradicting. It will be nothing like you can imagine as our minds are limited to this world. But the Quran does describe it in sense of the rewarding feeling of heaven. I think at this point I should also state that heaven and hell are perspectives of the afterlife. A righteous person who learns to let go of material desire and be completely in love with Allah will have developed the taste of the afterlife and therefore the afterlife will be heaven. A person devoted to material desire will be greatly disappointed in the afterlife as it will be not of their liking, as such it will be hell. This has to do with development of the soul. Like a healthy body enjoys food and drink but a sick body becomes nauseated. Your soul will take form of the body (if we can even call it that) in the afterlife and we can understand that it will then take shape and show what you could hide in this life. In this life you could do sin as much as you like and it doesn't reflect on you physically, but it will reflect when your soul is formed to likeness of a body in the afterlife.

i cannot imagine being in a state without a care after knowing what it is to care...how can i unlearn what i have spent my whole life learning?

is one supposed to be in a state of total self absorption, the state of being of
completely unaware of others..., while the reason why one is in that state to begin with is because they were beings who were aware of others.?

But most of my fellow muslims here will not even think it through. It is unfortunate. There is no basis of this idea, they have created to try to justify their understanding. The problem is not with Islam, but with their understanding, which again, is purely an attempted fix.

May i ask a question,but needs a honest reply.

if you are in a building with your love one, then a huge fire were every where and you are very close to the fire exit, whereas your love one is trapped inside by fire and if
you will go to here, then sure you will die with here.

So,what you will do,escape or remebering the sweet days and the memories then to throw yourself to the fire,so both of you are dead.

i hope you will reply honestly and hope your love one is not sitting beside you,
so you will say,of course i will throw myself to the fire :)
