Why doesn't the Bible mention.............

Gharib

I want Khilafah back
Why doesn't the bible mention, aeroplanes, electricity, gunpowder, Nuclear fission, Space Shuttle. Space Stations, motorcars, aircraft carriers, vaccines, skyscrapers, cruiseliners, mosques, machine guns, nuclear weapons or billions of other things that have occurred since it was written, if it has so many prophecies in it and god knows all? Why didn't god mention any of this stuff when telling the authors what to write? Is it because god didn't know all this stuff, or he didn't tell anyone what to write, or he just doesn't exist and these are really the stories of bronze age goatherds?

imagine yourself about 2000 years back and someone said to you cars are the future of transport.

1. you would not understand what a car is.
2. he can't explain it in any way that you would understand because you don't know what a car is and have never seen it.
3......?
4......?
5. At the end you call the Prophet of God a liar, delusional, sorcerer, magician, possessed, a devil etc etc the list goes on

the list goes on even further than this.

How would this person react to being told that their prophet was carried to heaven on a flying horse?

No, but we now do... how the hell can my soul be saved when the bible doesn't have any varification and god left out things that would convince us modern humans
I agree it is plain utter bull **** that god does not provide each person their own script.

Oh me oh my, what we will ever do with out a script from which to read?

How we will ever know anything about anything...?

Of course, with your assumption that the Bible is all that god will ever provide...?

JacobEzra.

Dr. Greenthumb
Then how do you tell what parts were written by God and which ones weren't?

If you mean historical value in the sense that it's an account by a people (or a succession of peoples, I guess) that can give a glimse into their understanding of the world, then okay... but what do you mean by "spiritual value"?

Well clearly some are more governmental type of laws. Like the laws of what to do when finding your neighbours animal. Or what to do when a man dies leaving a childless widow.

While others are more spiritual such as dealing with prayer, whats okay to eat, etc.

But I may be wrong.

Can't understand a bicycle but can understand this:
Rev4:8 and the four living creatures, having each one of them six wings, are full of eyes round about and within: and they have no rest day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come.

Ya gotta luv it. :biglaugh:

It's symbolical and it's quite a "common knowledge" that time... Now the problem is on literalism and stupidity of someone like... which is quite laughable.

So God isn't omniscient or omnipotent?

he would first have to ask for supporting evidence. back then they knew what heaven was, they had at least a rough idea as to what it meant anyways. they knew what a horse was now i would just have to give the evidence of not only a flying horse and going to heaven but making a 7 week journey by camel, in one night.

mind you some muslims disbelieved after this event, while the majority didn't.

I get that some (many :D) parts of the Bible deal with religious and "spiritual" things, but what I was getting at is if it's all just the opinion of the human authors, in what sense does it have "spiritual value"?

I understand that it would give us a glimpse into their practices, but are you saying that this translates somehow into a guide for our practices?

It's symbolical and it's quite a "common knowledge" that time... Now the problem is on literalism and stupidity of someone like... which is quite laughable.
I think he raises a good point: several people in this thread have argued that God didn't mention things like airplanes or the like because a first-century person wouldn't have been familiar with them and wouldn't have been able to understand them, yet the Bible talks about all sorts of things that would have been very unfamiliar to this person. Apparently, this worry wasn't a very big one for God.

So why wouldn't they have exercised a similar degree of critical thinking about claims about the future? Why wouldn't they have rejected the claims about Muhammad and his flying horse the way you're saying they would have rejected claims about the technology in the future?

it's easy to say that at a time when we know what humanity is capable of technologically, if i say in 500 years time there will be no physical labor you know what i'm talking about i don't even have to explain any further.

but just think about those people 200 years ago and how would you explain to them a Computer or even a car or electricity?

if you think i don't make a good point then please try and explain to me a car or a computer. if you are not comfortable with either of them then how about you explain to me how a tall building can actually swing and not fall to pieces, you are an engineer right.

You said he can't explain. That would be impossible for an omniscient, omnipotent God

you are forgetting the other part of that 'explanation' the people cannot understand it. what good is it to tell a 5 year old about quantum physics?

says you.

There are groups who say otherwise.

What makes your claim more plausible than theirs?

i am very amazed at how people react about why God didn't tell us about such and such. face the facts those people would not have accepted the facts back then just as they don't accept the facts now. God also explains the after life, but no one accepts it (those that already don't)
