I've posted about the Goon Squad before.
But it deserves to be highlighted to show the extent
of police corruption & criminal behavior that is
covered up....in this case, 2 decades of torture,
beatings, rape, & all sorts of civil rights violations.
All were totally ignored by local, state, & federal
government until media pressure became too
great to ignore.

Some good news.
Cops are sentenced to prison.
Not long enuf for the crime of home invasion
& torture, but at least the punishment is more
than just firing them.
The torture included putting a gun in one man's
mouth & shooting it thru his face.

Life in prison should be the sentence for all who
torture people under color of authority. If ever
any crime were appropriate for the death sentence,
this one is.

You'll find'm.
As I said, it varies in degree.

Its your mess that you believe you are living with.
It's your mess that you see all over your huge country.
I don't know how many law enforcers work in the USA, but there'll be so many millions of them, and you seek to trash the whole lot.
And then, when this is pointed out to you, you point at other countries.

It's your mess.

We have bad cops, some have been really bad, but most are very good.
I'm just sad about your mess, is all.

Don't forget an underfunded justice system. They can't process cases properly. The complexity of the laws is part of it and the difficulty in knowing what the laws actually all are along with precedents. Plea bargaining is commonly used to shorten due process, so people often get light sentencing or heavy sentencing and victims don't get to see a trial happen.

Naturally the police see this injustice, and some are worn down by it. How are they supposed to uphold justice when the justice system lets them down, when cutting corners is a daily necessity? Nobody can stop crime, but the police are expected to. This false expectation and the underfunded justice system are both working against us when we try to get police to respect our rights.

If you are accused of a crime, how long will you wait in jail until your court day? A year? Two years? Nobody knows.
