I was wondering about contemporary views of Sikhs today on Baba Sri Chand the son of Guru Nanak- Ive read a few sikhs on websites say that he is not considered a true Sikh because he did not follow the householder path - where as other books I have read by Sikhs seem to hold him in high regard.

He may be held in high regard by some people, but he (and his sect) are not Sikhs.

And that's that, really.

He formed his own sect but towards his later life he was impressed by Sikhi especially the third Gurus humility. During the sixth Gurus time their sect had even started preaching Sikhi, so he asked the Sixth Guru for a sucessor whereby the Guru gave him their son (Baba Gurditta) who succeeded Sri Chand and preached Sikhi even more.

Seeing his latter life we can call him a good Sikh but nothing more as blood lines don't matter in Sikhi, actions do.
