Meeting Other Posters In The Real World

I wonder how many other posters are as weird as I am.
I don't want to meet any RF posters out in the real world.
Why?
If I know you here, I already know your avatar & persona/personality.
But to meet you IRL is potentially awkward, & therefore demands effort.
(Oddly, this aversion doesn't afflict me in technological history forums.)

But I enjoy seeing that some other posters meet, & even find romance on RF.
Good for you guys!

Yeah, I'm one of the more socially awkward posters here.
But you already know that.

So fellow posters.....do you enjoy meeting others?
Do you avoid meetings?
All commentary is welcome.

I met my best friend on another forum. We get together about every other year and have boatloads of fun. We've even vacationed together! That said, there are others I know from that same forum that I like well enough, but not well enough to meet in person. Still others would likely just as soon run me down with a semi as see me walking down the street. o_O

Aye, there are a very few posters who actually seem threatening.
And I'm not referring to hungry bears.

I'm really weird.

I only ever met one person in real life that I posted to on a website. It was a business dealing, but I'm not in contact with them anymore.

In person is not as good for me. I am chit-chat challenged. I have a hard time coming up with conversation in real life. Websites solve that problem since I can think and edit what I say, before posting.

I sympathize.
The pacing & resources of on line discussions suit me.
Meeting IRL would entail discussing non-RF things.
And their real non-avatar appearance might be discomforting.

I've tried to set up meetings with a few members before in the past, but things fell through and they didn't happen.
Although once, years ago, I thought I did meet a member who was a trucker, but it turns out it was just someone who looked similar and this member stopped at the truck stop about 10 miles north of the one I worked at (their parking lot is much more manageable when you have something as big as a semi-truck).

LOL. I assume that you look like your avatar just as much as I look like mine.
Hmmm... actually....now that I'm really comparing. I have as much hair on my head as my avatar does.

I don't go out of my way to meet fellow posters, either on this or other forums I have frequented over the years. I'm certainly not shy, but I figure I'm about the only normal person here...ahem...

Having said that, I've now met (does a quick count) 4 people I've posted with online, and in all cases it was a positive experience.

I'm always up for meeting people in person. You can read more in a face and its always more interesting than a forum. Also I am much more different in person than I am in the forum. The forum just satisfies one part of my personality.

Many that know me in real life surly consider me a Misanthrope, not too far from the truth.

I do look somewhat similar to my avatar, other than obvious differences of course.
My hair is black and a bit more straight, my skin doesn't have much more color, and my eyes are green-blue.
That's about it, I'm average in every other aspect... Physically anyways, lol...

I know a family member of mine frequents this site (tis how I heard of RF).
Don't know their username though.

Other than that I do not know anyone here irl, nor do I think I would care to.
I also doubt many would care to meet me, I'm not much in the way of conversation or personality.

What? Me worry?
Meeting others does not bother me. I like it. However meeting me in person may be a little disappointing. I'm probably not as tall as you think I am.

Eh. People judge more on what they see and what I do before what I say. So for example, if I bought a RF member to my home theyd swear Im still Catholic cause I have my baptismal paper and all five rosaries people gave me when confirmed. And a nice and thick wooden crucifix. All hanging on my wall.

I had a friend judge me on my belief that I am a Buddha and she didnt realize Buddhism is not abrahamic supernatural. Totallally different mindset. Im all pagan.

First impressions get people so if someone met me in person from here wed need to respect each others differences ans trust each others words.

A few I can name I would not be friends. A couple we can have good talks on religion. A few others aquaitences. Maybe one person a friend.

It wouls be interesting.

Alfalfa never struck me as tall.
I'd bet you'd be surprisingly tall then.

I will, if the chance arises (I am in New Delhi). I have met two fellow posters from the forums I used to post. One meeting was nice, the other was very good. So, do not hesitate if you are in my area.

Thanx for the invite, but it's unlikely I'll ever drive from Revoltistan to India.
