Thanks... Science yet to prove the co-existence or may be it's already done ... There could be pressure from nationalists and strong adherents of Evolution theory.

namaskaram ,

Makara is not a crocodile , he is supposed to be a sea monster with some qualities of a crocodile , ...the lower jawis said to be crocodile like and he has the trunk of an elephant , ....you see him too in Buddhist mythology exept prehaps we should not take it as mythology !
Makara-1.JPG

Makara also is said to have serpant like qualities , to the Thai they are ptotectors and are often seen adorning many parts of temples and flank the entrance steps , ...
Wat-Suan-Dok-2.jpg

the Thai Ramayana has many deagons serpents and unidentifies beasties , ...

first-photo.jpg

and in Burma they have Chinthe who guard the temples , ....

chinthe-statue-500x375.jpg

and the Pyinsa Rupa who lile the Makara has many atributes , but this is not makara they have Makaras , Garuda s and Nagas too
pyinsarupa01.jpg

whole point is just to say there is mention of many creatures including Giants in works like the Ramayana , ...
all these were existing along side man , ...

The_battle_between_Hanuman_and_Kumbhakarna.jpg

and here I hope this time the picture of Kumbhakana , .....maybe he is a Giant maybe he is more of a beastie ?

That is not fair to Kumbhakarna (with demon teeth and horns). He was huge and perhaps had a pot belly but otherwise he was a nice looking wise gentleman. Unfortunate that he was demonized later. But like Bheeshma, he was bound by loyalty.

Kumbhakarna talking to Ravana (Valmiki Ramayana, Book VI, Yuddha Kanda, Sarga 63):
श्रीघ्रम् खल्वभ्युपेतम् त्वाम् फलम् पापस्य कर्मणः l
निरयेष्वेव पतनम् यथा दुष्कृतकर्मणः ll ६-६३-३
Shīghram khalvabhupetam twām phalam pāpasya karmanah l
nirayeshveva patanam yathā dushkritakarmanah ll

"How a doer of wicked deeds indeed falls into damnation, so also a punishment for your sinful act has indeed reached your fast."
Valmiki Ramayana - Yuddha Kanda - Sarga 63

HLK, see if there is an opening in the Indian Historical Research Commision. They are looking for people like you these days.

he may have been bound by loyalty to the wicked Ravana but he still selpt for six months then woke up and ate everything in sight , ...I dont think that was seen to be very gentlemanly , .......

As indicated earlier, this penchant for sleeping long was contrived by Indra and Saraswati. He had no control over his physique and his appetite. Huge body, huge appetite. That is what Gods gave to him. I still pronounce Kumbhakarna as gentleman and honorably absolve him of all charges against him. He was one fine Rakshasa along with his brother, Vibhishana, just like Bali or Prahlad were fine Asuras. I accept that Makara was (is ? :)) somewhat similar to a crocodile but not exactly a crocodile.*
* Of course, that does not make them real.

That is a beautiful Ammonite.

Shaligram: Shila, (शिला in Devanagari, śila in IAST) or Shaligram refers to a fossilized stone used to invoke God, and as a representation of God. Shaligram is usually collected from sacred river beds or on the banks. Shiva worshipers use nearly round or oval shaped Shaligrams to worship as Shiva Linga. Vaishnavas (Hindu) use aniconic representation of Vishnu, in the form of a spherical, usually black-coloured Ammonoid fossil found in the sacred river Gandak. (Wikipedia)

Check this one out.

Ah, I was thinking it was Pen Y Fan or somewhere.

If you disappear from RF, I'll know you've been eaten by a dragon after waking it up.

As for vegetarianism in dinosaurs:

This one was vegetarian -

Well, historically it was the Welsh who attacked the English first :)

As for Bhavani the lamb, she's gotten pretty big now, but I'm back in Manchester so I haven't seen her for a while.
