Actually I also talked about how I find Hunter Biden irresistible... ;)
especially because after seeing some things...about him...

Lol.

I admit that sounds a teensy bit silly to an American like myself. Maybe it's just because I don't know of too many Americans who would think of him as attractive. To me, he looks like someone you'd find on an old Western show from the 50's-60's.

Honestly I don't know any part of Europe which is conservative, as for talking about sex.
For instance, whenever I talk about my sex life and about my sexual preferences, none of my friends or acquaintances is weirded out.

Here some Americans are weirded out by what I say.
Why? ;)
Us Scandinavians taught the other Europeans about the joys of doing oral, and I think a lot of this maybe be due to daily bathing practices.

Do you have anything other than Strawman fallacy .. post after post I have never denied saying the DSM is about proscribing Drugs
That's one of the first things you said on the matter, and I was speaking to your comment on that. Hence the reason I quoted it. The DSM is not about "prescribing drugs." It's about diagnosing mental illness.
.. and has been explained to you numerous times .. while DSM is about diagnosis .. this then leads to drug perscription.. in many cases. ..
In some cases, sure. In some cases it leads to cognitive therapy. In other cases it leads to behavioural therapy + medication. Etc. Depending on the person and the therapist. Psychologists don't prescribe medications.

The DSM is a diagnostic guide.
who said we have not advanced since Freud .. and why are you pretending I said this ..
Where did I say that you said that? How am I "pretending" you said that?
and what is the psychological diagnosis for this issue Mr. Psychologist .. what do they call this one these days that is so different than the Freudian Label ?
There are many.
I'm sure you're aware of them, given what a massive genius you are, and all. ;)

Just a question.
If a parent caught their own teenage daughter doing it in her bedroom, would thet react like this?
Because that's the reaction of the average European parent: ;)

Sweden has always been the most sexually disinhibited country in Europe, that's for sure.
A model. They taught us about nudist beaches. ;)

Not weirded out, but your grand overstatements are interesting. How you repeatedly speak not just for all of Italy, but for all of Europe.

And when you're not doing that, you speak for all of the U.S. ;)

You're right, I shouldn't. :)
It's just that I have travelled throughout Europe and I have never found people who sounded like Americans, as for talking about sex.

I mean, that modesty, that shame...honestly...I have never found it.
So I understood this topic is one of the few things that bring us together.

You traveled through Europe finding enough people to talk with about sex to speak for all of Europe?

You're right again.
I shouldn't generalize.
But I really fail to understand why to many Americans sex is an issue and not something enjoyable. :)
Can anyone answer?

Dude .. we have been over this a number of times .. and I already told you that it is the Psychiatrists who proscribe medication .. so why are you repeating this back to me ... pretending this is new information.

The DSM diagnosis does not lead to a drug perscription in every case .. again already stated .. so why are you restating this again - peretending this is new information ?

"How am I pretending" -- Read above .. which was only a few examples proffered by the great Pretender .. your educational credibility perhaps being the largest play act :)

Is that why the American Right (those most ashamed and embarassed by sex) is buddy-buddy with Orbán?

Nah, you didn't. You also don't seem to be able to properly follow along in a conversation.

Maybe if you spent less time building yourself up and more time paying attention to what you're actually saying. But, you do you, Hoss.

How many Americans have you talked to about sex? Or are you only going by what you see on TV?

IMV - there are always differences in most any field and more-so in this particular one.

But, as I view it, the Occam's Razor's position that "usually the simplest answer is usually correct" may apply here. If we look at the history, as sexuality changed beyond the monogamous, simple definitions of "male and female" positions, and the intimacy between the opposite sexes changed to more complex definitions, the society usually deteriorated and succumbed to the destruction of that society.

According to this site, there is a correlation between sexual permissiveness and the deterioration of that society.

Are you serious here? An orthodox priest, writing in 1934, is an authority on social anthropology?

To start with, I would want to probe the tendentious assumption that societies change from monogamous heterosexuality to greater diversity in forms of relationship. What evidence is there for this?

No... it isn't the orthodox priest. If you read the content you will find the quotes of a non-Christian. Your the second person to do that--I assume you just look at the author and forget the content.

OK thanks for the correction. It was J D Unwin, a social anthropologist, in a book he wrote in the 1930s.

This is about sexual “continence”, however, by which I presume he means faithfulness to a partner, rather than anything to do with homosexuality. It also raises the question of what he means by decline of a society. I have to say that the 1930s were a time when some very unpleasant notions were around about what constituted success for a society!

A further confounding factor is that effective contraception for women did not exist until 30 years after he was writing. That changes the game considerably, I should have thought.

Do you think modern society has declined since the 1960s?

The non-Christian was Unwin. And you’ve already been shown the flaws in his research and the fact that modern anthropology has since rejected it.

I may have missed this. Did someone post a social anthropology critique of Unwin’s arguments?

I didn’t post it, just referenced it. I’ll have to find it when I’m not at work. It’s conclusion is that while Unwin could point to correlations, he failed to show causation. He also completely biffs on the fact that the Roman Empire only began to fail after the infiltration by Christians - who obviously introduced less permissiveness, not more.

As an American... we have had conferences about sex. Same in pre-marital counseling. It is God created and enjoyable.

Maybe because it is when you talk about it and not that you talk about it? Or differences in culture/customs?
