I will explain that title later. I am not entirely knew to this forum but i actually never introduced myself. I was practising zen buddhist for about 2 years. But then I got this "revelation" from god, which completely changed my live. So now I believe completely in God, but my believe has no logical reason which may sound wierd. I still have the utmost respect for zen and so i am hooked to mystical practises. First way i was really interested was sufism and Islam. I almost was sure at one point that I am Muslim, but there was always so much things i disagreed with. Later that year my friend persuade me to go with her to church and i felt awesome there. So I started read bible and now I think Jesus is the highest standart of morality. From sufism I absolutely love Rumi and also some works from Al-Ghazali. So I am in the middle of two religions, I dont believe that jesus is God so I am doomed, but i also do not consider muhhamad teachings to be better then Jesuses, so i am doomed to. :D Sorrry for long opening and English.

I don't think you really think you are doomed for those reasons. What's wrong with getting insight from Zen, Christianity and Islam. For a non-fundamentalist, they are not mutually exclusive and perhaps complimentary.

Of course i dont. It supposed to be joke, bad one :O I am not restricted to one path I am just looking for the way to being closer to God, but I feel lonely that I have no one with same believe and I have moments of uncertainity so I hope to find the correct way.

Welcome to the site! I like Al-Ghazali too, and it's always nice to meet someone who has, uh, heard of him.

Know, O beloved, that man was not created in jest or at random, but marvelously made and for some great end. Although he is not from everlasting, yet he lives for ever; and though his body is mean and earthly, yet his spirit is lofty and divine.

Like Richard Francis Burton! I don't think it's really in the Sufi mindset to turn away earnest seekers of knowledge, whatever their background. As Al-Ghazali also said, though I paraphrase, it's not the student's job to know what they don't know before they begin the course.

Oh, I'm an anthropologist; I sort of pick up religious traditions as I go along. But I usually lead with "very ecclectic Christian" since that is how I was raised.

Not the first time I have realized I am fortunate to have so many books translated into my native tongue. Usually though, around here Rumi is the only well-known Sufi writer. Almost the only well-known Muslim writer...

Losin, you have to decide that for your self.
Every religionist says his religion is the truth.

If you lean towards trinity, son of God, god himself incarnated, that kind of beliefs then christianity suits u best.
Islam(sufism, sunnism, shiasm) is very simple, just One God. If u lean to such belief, then islam is ur choice. But Bahai religion and Judaism also has One God belief system.

At the end of the day listen to your heart.

Here almost no one knows what sufism is so when I telled my friends I am hooked in Islamic mysticism, they only focused on that Islamic part and started to have worries about me. It is sad.

Peace be on you. Seems you read Islam through those who do not present it in pure form, either in teaching or by practice. You are welcome @ alislam.org (Ahmadiyya Muslims). Good wishes and welcome.

Welcome.
I don't think anyone who is sincerely seeking to know God is doomed. God has promised that...And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.(Jeremiah 29:13) and Jesus said, 'Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened" ( Matthew. 7:7-8). So I trust that God will lead you to Himself.

Hello, Losin

I agree with this:

And not everyone will admit it, but I think everyone who does not know God seeks to know Him. Some might think about it only now and then, while others are like adopted children who never lose the desire to know who their parents really are. So what do they look for and where do they look?

People commonly decide to be part of a particular religion or denomination based on where other people lead them or based on what they think a faith should embrace or encompass. Some people formulate their own definition of what God should be, creating Him in their own image so to speak. In any case, how can you find the real truth, and know for sure that you found it with nothing more to go on than fallible human perceptions and opinions?

The way to the truth is to ask God Himself, and you don’t even have to know just who he is at that point. He knows you. A sincere desire and prayer for understanding will not be ignored because God wants you to be with Him now and forever. That’s why He created us as everlasting souls.
