Yesterday I joined members of the Tel Safi (Gath of the Philistines) team and a few other students from the archeology department to conduct a survey in the valley near Tel Safi, an extremely large archeological site identified with the city of Gath, largest of the five main Philistine cities, until its destruction in the hands of Hazael, king of Aram Damascus. We had to cut the day short because it started raining cats and dogs, but we still managed to make good progress in just a couple of hours.
