Years back I was driving home from work and the feeling of absolute peace fell upon me. I had started meditation around that time, so I attribute it to that. My job at that time was very stressful, so it could just have been relief to be going home after a hard day, but I believe it was something more.

Have you had moments like this?

Quite often. Walks in the forest can bring it on, lying on the settee with hubbies thigh as a pillow can too.

I believe it occurs when brainwave activity slows below the norm for the beta wake state. It's known as the alpha state. You become more relaxed, is very restful and helps creativity.

I try to attain alpha at least once a day.

I guess many peeps call it meditation

Hard to tell based on the narrative provided.

Did it feel anything like this? How Can I Test to See If I am in a State of Mystical Awareness?

Probably not quite the same but music and live music in particular can do this.
As Christine says, walks in forests and/or country or coast even down our local canal can do this.

It's good to recall such experiences. My first significant one was on a Greek island about 40 years ago, following a Buddhist retreat.
Just curious, are you still meditating? And have you been able to reconnect with that feeling?

Being out in the natural world always helps me to "connect". I'm fortunate to live near the sea, and walk by it every day. Hills, mountains and forests are also good!

There is nothing as yummy as the bliss from a jhana. Just don't get addicted to it.

Widespread jhana addiction would be rather a good thing. ;)

At one time we lived by the sea, i really didn't find atlantic storms that good but on a nice day, wonderful.

We now live in a small village situated in a forested valley with a small river running through it. Pretty much protected from most bad weather but it can, on occasion, trap thunder storms which have there own beauty but not particularly peaceful.

When they eat the side of your house away (sand blasted from beach sand and high winds) not so much.

I have it when I leave my home and move beyond the fence of my back yard and into the trees where, stop the internal dialogue and loose my self identity to become a part of that surrounds me. At that moment when not focusing on any one thing the most world opens up becoming aware of our wondrous world and feeling connected. I have tried to hold onto the describe the experience long enough to describe it but it cannot be translated into words only approximated and poorly so, yet those experiences have had some of the most profound influences on me. All I can say during that moment is that everything in the would around me is important and connected.

Fortunately, a lot, and this was "taught" to me by a couple of people I know through their words and actions.

Thus, I encourage you to tap into this as it could be life-changing.

I dunno. I've come across a few spiritual junkies with the usual junkie psychology. I'm a recovering koan junkie. Therefore, I'm careful not to become a bliss junkie.

Yes. It is yummy. I don't think any other word could be more appropriate. Maybe ambrosia. Spiked with amrit.
