Ever had what you believed to be a brilliant success actually be a disaster and failure?

I think it has something to do with pride coming before the fall or overconfidence in self worth.

Sometimes it might be reaping what we sew.

Well, I don't think anyone at RF needs my explanation of why my judgement might be poor at times or failed endeavors haha. I'm two faced, live a double life, have a double mind. I do indeed regret hurting people when the charitable sensitive side of the conscience speaks up. I'm sometimes deeply altruistic and considerate actually and sometimes an ***hole! It doesn't seem to be something I can control even with professional help.
    *Shrug*

    Do share your Waterloo though.

By Waterloo I mean a master plan that you thought to be a success which turned into a disaster and error in judgment.

When I was a teenager I was pretty sure I was going to be a rock star some day.

Not technically mine, but back in high school my friends had this great big foolproof plan to get some quick cash.
Sell cheat sheets for some maths exam we were taking.
Turns out the cheat sheets were useless because they were too “out of date.” Ended up with a bunch of people hating them and I somehow got roped into their detention because I failed to report them.
(I just wanted to see them fall flat on their face and laugh, like a true mate should. Is that such a crime?)

Don't feel bad, David. You grew up in the 70s and 80s, you were pretty much required to think you were going to be a rock star someday. :D

I've had several Waterloos. Almost all of them involved a woman who I thought needed rescuing (or if I'm more honest with myself, who I thought might be able to rescue me).

yesterday I wrote a letter to a girl I'm obsessed with and care about deeply and it freaks her out.

She gave me the letter back and told me to see my therapist. Ouch! :(

Yep. Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it.

Once wanting to be smart in eyes of girls, I stole a book from school library — and I was caught and paraded as a book thief. Headmaster, however, finally praised me saying that I was a book thief, a noble thief. He thought that I stole the book to study. That was in 1974.

There are other very serious Waterloo-s from adult period.

    Waterloo? Did I have one?
    Yes, I believe I did.

but when I consider what was done,
I walked the field with Wellington.
