No. I am saying that for the first couple as described in the Bible, their disobedience cost them their eternal lives.

I suppose if you define death in terms of someone external to you who consciously experiences your life. You could also say that no one is alive except those in your immediate presence,

I think it's more useful to define death as the time after which the body is no longer biologically (and spiritually) alive. The body dies, not the soul (if there is one).
