Are you aware that in the political context of the US (and a few other countries mostly in Eastern Europe) "family values" is an euphemism? It doesn't that which values family life, children, education, etc. It basically means that a person values strict gender roles, opposes homosexuality (or any non-heterosexual relationship), pre-marital sex, science-based sexual education, abortion, divorce (unless in case of abuse or infidelity). It can also serve as a cover for a defense of corporal punishment against children though not always. It's also very often a cover for all sorts of anti-feminist ideals. Finally, it's also used as a mantle to cover up positions against pornography and/or violence on the television, supportive of religious teachings in schools and in opposition to legalisation of prostitution and recreational drugs.
