There was a nudist beach within half a mile of our home. I often caught mullet with a drag net along that beach, and sometimes bathers would rush out to help me pull in the net. I need to reassure you that their presence never did cause me to injure myself on the nets, although one bather hurt himself when a lead line rasped across his exposed genitals. He tried to blame me for this nasty injury but I had previously called out warnings and waved him away from the net, so he couldn't succeed in any claim.
No, your uncle was fairly safe if/when working with nudes etc, but people who are using sharp and impact tools should be safely and securely clothed for their safety, more than your uncles'.
This woman was an idiot imo. Of course so are such laws. I don't mind topless folks myself. But they really should get a brain and use it before working on jobs where they might hurt themselves. Over here we call it 'Health and Safety at Work' or H&S@W for short. We also call it common-sense.

There’s a nude beach near me. I often saw kids there. No one was scarred beyond belief, IIRC.
The lady in question, sure maybe an idiot. But who hasn’t accidentally seen their parents naked at least once in their life? Who cares? Nonsensical laws.

The local Council closed that nudist beach that I mentioned, because men were laying down and covered, and then would jump up and expose themselves to passing walkers, which was scaring people who had not noticed the signs about nude bathing. The world is full of nutters, sadly.
True. As already mentioned I think the woman was stupid, not because she was topless but because of work she was doing when topless. And you're right about those laws.....
When we read about States that ban the teaching of evolution in schools, or sex education, etc etc, most here just think that primitives must be running them. And the alcohol ban on under 21's is another. Over here I think that the law still allows a 14 year old to have, say, wine, when at a restuarant, and 18 year olds can buy alcohol.

As Utah can not ignore the law when it pleases. A warning acknowledges a violation with no malice or sexual intent involved.

It's the weird American puritanical hangup about nudity, ANY nudity, being INHERENTLY sexual, and including women's breasts, and the exposure of them, no matter the circumstance, as inherently sexualised. Hence you've still got a sizable number of Americans (and quite a few other Anglophone Westerners) who treat public breastfeeding like exposure to hardcore porn.
