No Christianity will either die off like all other ancient religions, or they will destroy us all to fulfill their prophecy of armeggedon. Either way not likely to make it 10,000 yrs.

Our descendants, and those of our loved ones, will either be here or be forfeited due to factors that arguably relate to the question in the OP.

No, we won't. Unless you're expecting to somehow be alive 10,000 years from now.

According to Frank Herbert, we will have an 'Orange Catholic Bible' and
we will have forgotten which planet we originated from.

So why do most people think we originated on this planet?

You aren't even thinking your own points through at all. And I mean NOT AT ALL. Let's say the corresponding events happens EXACTLY as you have stated. The last test is "administered" by the "Board of Angels" or whoever administers such tests, and Satan and all those following him and all the records they listened to backward have been destroyed, and then civilization continues with ONLY Christians alive from that moment forward - things go back to "normal", and God simply leaves again to do whatever it is that He's doing right now... meaning He's not around, doesn't prove His existence to anyone, let's a bunch of people try and "witness" for him with a sort of grand ineptitude - in other words, exactly like the here and now. Are you seriously suggesting that there will be no new atheists born? Are you seriously stating that the arguments for God to all newly born humans will be so much more compelling in that 9,000 year stretch that Christianity will just hold out and stand as the accepted philosophy/theology for ALL humans from that time forward? Can you even state that with a modicum of seriousness?

Christianity is declining and the authorities of various denomination's are worried.

In America Christianity has declined over 8% in 10 years, a trend that begun in the 1950s and is increasing

In the uk Christianity is declining at around 10,000 per week,
Following current trends it is estimated that by 2067 it wont exist.

In Europe, some of the staunchest christian countries, France, spain, italy, poland are all seeing rapid declines.

I can see that in a couple of hundred years the only truly Christian country will be Russia which is actually seeing an increase in congregations.

10,000 years, very doubtful any religions recognised today will exist but I'd love to something called chrislam.

Thanks to Arthur Clarke we have "the hammer of god" in which chrislam was prophesied 25 years ago. Seems Yoruba is a good take on that prophecy

Yes, I would say what you see today is just unique to this stage of its evolution. It's actually more a pathological side shoot of it, which will probably just die off or get healed by the good side of the religion and brought forward. Pat Robertson and the like are already a dying breed. As they say, change happens one funeral at a time.

I think that would be rather boring. Can we get to be somebody else so we don't have to keep staring at ourselves in the mirror every morning for billions and trillions of trillions of years? Gah! I think we'd all go insane after only a thousand years!

Not them. Their descendants, in the biological sense, and theirs and mine in other senses.

Assuming, of course, that human beings survive that far.

While the way churches function today most likely shall be a thing of the past, God's morality is going to be something all who live will be practicing. As the letter of John tells us, 'love of God ' is obedience to God. We are also told that at that time, none will be telling their neighbor about God since all know what they need in their hearts.
Psalm 101:8 8 Every morning I shall silence all the wicked ones of the earth, To cut off from the city of Jehovah all the practicers of what is hurtful.
At the same time, in the Prophets of the OT when this future is mentioned, we see that all must do some form of worship on the Sabbath to avoid his wrath. What shall be then is unknown. But, assuredly, God's morality, a world without theft, murder, drugs, war, will be enforced. As Psalms say:
Psalm 37:9 9 For evildoers themselves will be cut off, But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth.

Atheists do not put faith in Christian beliefs. If I had only given you the Christian answer, it would have brushed aside. Thus, I gave you the other one since you more readily shall believe what your own peers claim.

Either choice is really no choice for atheists for it shows how their system comes to a complete stop. Their gospel is not Good News, it is lights out, earth destroyed. Their belief system sucks.

Okay, I'll allow the assumption of humanity still being around. Predicting the future, in any case, is pretty much a mug's game.

BUT...here I go: If humanity is till around in ten thousand years, there might well be something called "Christianity" (though the spelling and pronunciation are almost certain to be very different), but any attempt to compare it to, or reconcile it with, the Christianity that you think you understand would be ludicrous and futile.

And therein lies the real question: if it doesn't look anything like Christianity, is it Christianity within the context of your question?

We are seeing the world through different perspectives. These are not compatible.

Let me give you a run down, trying to be brief, beginning with today, what is expected to happen:
As Jesus told us, we would have wars here and there
    Cities and nations going bankrupt
Around this time of bankruptcy, there will be an attack on religion, to what extent is unknown, but it seems that the least to expect is the destruction of the Vatican.
Following this, a Great Tribulation shall occur, a global meltdown of the economy shall happen, maybe WWIII. A great many shall die here.
Hereafter, the sign of Christ, a sun like object shall be seen, many objects from its debris field shall impact earth, and because of the proximity of this sun like object, the gravitational forces nearly tear the earth apart.
Following this comes Armageddon. At this time about 90% of the human population shall have perished.
After Armageddon, Christ Kingdom rule takes over all the earth, cleanup begins, resurrections of the dead righteous and unrighteous begin.
This is called the re-creation. Earth is being brought back to a pristine state, as much as is possible. Humanity lives in 'Paradise' in which most of our crime becomes a thing of the past. Most but not all crime, mind you. The unrepentant criminals get put to death as is needed. However, people who entered the kingdom do not age, grow old, or ill. They live without dying for all this time.
Paradise is not paradise to everyone. Many want to be able to become mega rich like before, to lord it over others, to have things that ruin the earth, but they are biding their time, waiting.
Finally, all of humanity has been brought to perfection, all are physically as Adam and Eve without flaw, ready to be tested. satan is let loose with his angels. This happens after 1000 years has passed. He gathers a great number among the ones who live; he is confident that he can win and attack the Holy City.
His defeat ends in him, his angels, and his followers being destroyed.

The humans who survived did so despite great pressure, great temptations. These will never die and keep on living. From then on, as it says, God will live with them, be among them. This refers not to a physical presence but to his continual spiritual presence in all their efforts.
Revelation 21:2-4 . . .. 3 With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

My peers? Stephen Hawking is not one of my peers. I do not read Hawking, I do not read Dawkins and I do not read that other guy. You are off in La La Land, serving up nothing but nonsense.

Are you worried about the descendants of your love ones after 10,000 years,
what kind of worries if they were Christians or atheists after 10,000 years?

Worried? No, not really. I am quite satisfied that I should be realistic about the degree of responsibility that I might have over them.

I don't worry about that, either. Christianity is not likely to survive that long either way. Some form of Dharma, perhaps of Christian inspiration, might well survive, but it would be unrecognizable when compared with current Christianity. Or, for that matter, with Islaam.
