The afterlife process is not dependent on some theological belief differences while alive. An openness to the spiritual is more helpful though in one's progression.

I don't hate anybody. I don't have to. God 'll get around to 'em eventually. (You realize I'm just being sarcastic, I hope.)

If there is a heaven, then I am sure there will be plenty of former (;)) atheists there.

In my beliefs? Yes. Hel is the Home of the Dead, the Underworld, the Grave. Everyone rests there, in comfort or glory (if such is what you sought).

I was about to ask the same question... not sure why I should ever be using "someone else's" standards to judge what I, personally, believe to be right or wrong action. I might defer to "the law" on something I don't necessarily grasp the full magnitude of, but in the end, I will still judge a thing I do understand on its own merits and according to my own idea of what is right or wrong.

What theists don't seem to understand (unsurprising - @Harel13) is that we all take part in this exact thing all the time - making our own determinations of what is right or wrong. "The law" may say one thing, but we make our own judgment on it regardless... such as the legalization or illegalization of alcohol, or the drawing of districts for voting purposes, or "abortion." Only the delusional truly believe that they "defer to God" for any and all moral questions.

I meant your moral standards aren't really "moral", because they're subjective. Hence "justice" doesn't truly exist.

Interesting... if there were actually an afterlife where many (or all) of us ended up, I would definitely still "go" even if there were theists there. And not just because it would be great to see the looks on their faces when so many of them turned out to be wrong. Though that would be a hilarious and welcome bonus.

Subjective morals are all we have, unless you can prove a higher power and you cannot. Try invading my house and you will find justice may be very real, very painful and very swift.

Edit, and possibly dog shaped if your lucky!

Well, more likely that I'd find ""justice"" etc, but sure. Tomato, toh-mah-toh and all that.

    I sure hope not.

My dad's side of the family are Mormons. If they try to call me out of the grave, Imma roll back over and go back to bed.

Can you imagine an afterlife where you're stuck with every distant relative you don't know all standing around and eating horderves like at an awkward family reunion? Sounds miserable. o_O

Anyone with critical faculties will exercise them when they are exposed to religious teaching, just as they do with other ideas.

Like a great many people, I simply do not believe that a God who is said to be loving and merciful would reject the many atheists I know who seem to be exemplary human beings.

Yes, of course, since "heaven" is where people's past life review lands them if they've lived mostly positive lives and atheists certainly can do that. NB - actions count.

According to the orthodox islamic theology of the traditional schools of thought, the answer is "yes".

Perhaps the atheist will be accepting of an afterlife, not necessarily a God. Unless everything is somehow revealed. I don't know how that part is supposed to work.

People can be atheists on the earth. In heaven, I don’t see how it would be possible to maintain the belief in God not existing if one is in the very manifest presence of God.

As a Christian, I take the position of Jesus is the only way to heaven( see John 14:6 ).
It is not entirely clear to me whether or not one may be able to turn to God after death.
