Have been doing some thinking (always a bad thing!) about the Anti-Christ and I have a question about him I hope others here will be able to help answer. All this of course is assuming he either does or will exist, which I personally doubt. But who knows?

To begin: The Anti-Christ is a character from Christian scripture, and there is a similar person in Islamic scripture.

He is prophesied to emerge into the world at around the beginning of End Times. He is called the Anti-Christ as he opposes Christ – “anti” as in “against”. But in scripture he does more than just oppose Christ, he will try to to take Christ’s place and he will succeed in winning many followers and would seem to reproduce Christ’s ministry as we know it from the gospels – with all the wise teachings, followers, excited crowds, disgruntled religious authorities, concerned secular authorities, healing, sermons, miracles etc. etc.

Many will say he is Christ returned, or a different person who’s even better than Christ was. And he will not correct them. He may even claim to be The Messiah or the successor of Christ.

He will be a great humanitarian and show great compassion towards his fellow humans and would be aware of what’s good for the world. He will be massively charismatic and likeable. He will however reject obedience to God and will deny the existence and virtue of Christ. And he will ask people to follow him, and to abandon Christ. It will be in this sense that he is against Christ, rather than due to the content of his teachings or his moral alignment (e.g. good, evil, neutral). Basically, he will be Christ’s rival, an alternative Christ even.

In one of my more mentally ill moments (In the past I've had serious issues with reality although I am now thankfully medicated and relatively sane) I was worried I might be the Anti-Christ but I can’t be: I cannot perform miracles, am not rich or powerful, and am not all that wise, and I should think very few people would ever follow me! Plus I am not at all charismatic. I’m quite dull and awkward in person and feel more at home communicating in writing. And I don’t come from a wealthy or influential background and didn’t graduate from an elite institution, and I believe one of the features of the Anti-Christ is that he will be born into the elite strata of society. Also, I don’t reject God (I think we should try to get to know him and that he is good) although I am agnostic about Christ. But if I were to ever meet Jesus Christ in person or be sure that he exists I would obediently take him as my lord and saviour.

In the film The Omen the Anti-Christ was certainly portrayed as being evil…

Now, here’s my question: Assuming there is or will be such a thing, will the Anti-Christ be evil? And if so, why?

If its evil to oppose God then of course the anti-christ will be evil but to Human's especially non-believers the anti-christ would want to come across as a savior, supporting Human ideal's over God's. This would get the Anti-Christ many supporters for people typically want confirmation of their life style not salvation from evil.

Did you try searching the answers in the Bible to identify the anti-Christ?

1 John 2:18-19 New International Version (NIV)
Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.

    upload_2019-5-1_0-19-24.jpeg

According to the Bible, during the time of the apostles, John said "he saw many antichrist"
He said these antichrist came from the first church of Christ

1 John 2:22-23 New International Version (NIV)
Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

Where are the Anti-Christs? Are we there yet?

1 John 4:2-3 New International Version (NIV)
This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

Let us make things a little bit clearer.

    upload_2019-5-1_0-32-58.jpeg

1 John 4:2-3 The Message (MSG)
Here’s how you test for the genuine Spirit of God. Everyone who confesses openly his faith in Jesus Christ—the Son of God, who came as an actual flesh-and-blood person—comes from God and belongs to God. And everyone who refuses to confess faith in Jesus has nothing in common with God. This is the spirit of antichrist that you heard was coming. Well, here it is, sooner than we thought!

How about another verse to confirm and clarify 1 John 4:2-3?

2 John 7 New International Version (NIV)

I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.

2 John 7 The Message (MSG)
There are a lot of smooth-talking charlatans loose in the world who refuse to believe that Jesus Christ was truly human, a flesh-and-blood human being. Give them their true title: Deceiver! Antichrist!

There have been many anti-Christs. Be careful of the Rapture crowd.

    Will the Anti-Christ be evil?

Let me change the sentence as "Is the Anti-Christ evil".

Doesn't one see the Pauline-Christianity- the Anti-Christ with many evils or most evils?
Pauline-Christianity has changed Jesus' true teachings and made Jesus-Christ as "Pagan-Christ". Is there no evil in "Pagan-Christ", please?

    Regards

So, basically… anyone who cannot bring themselves to believe in the biblical Jesus Christ is automatically an Anti-Christ and because of this deserves to be considered “evil” and on the basis of their disbelief deserves to be put in the same category as people who actually do evil stuff such as murder, torture, and abuse other humans. OK. Fair enough...

Thank you for all your responses.

    Not exactly, please.
Paul is the seed of Anti-Christ when he founded "Modern-Christianity" which is "Pagan-Christianity" and does not constitute the teachings of Jesus. This seed of Pauline-Christianity during the later centuries flowered/blossomed and is now embodied as "Christianity- the full-grown Anti-Christ". Right, please?

Yes he is evil. he is a spirit first of all. He is probably going to ascend out of the bottomless pit at the right time and then he will take human form. Either by taking over a human being; or by a clone body or maybe by being born. I don't know. But, he will be a man and he will rule the world briefly. He's going to be son of satan. His purpose is quite simple, deceive the world to worship him and satan and to ultimately cause destruction.

You don't want to be the antichrist though. He's going to be thrown in the lake of fire ... Not pleasant.

But of course it's a very common for people with schizophrenia to think they're the antichrist. So don't worry. You're not the antichrist ...

    Good day

    Bible says about antichrist this:

…that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have arisen. By this we know that it is the end times….Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the Antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.
    1 John 2:18,22

On basis of that, he is for example a liar. I think that is evil.

I disagree that nonbelievers are automatically evil. Religion (Christianity included) does not determine whether or not a person is good or evil. A person’s actions makes that determination.

According to 1 John 4:3 & 1 John 2:18, at the time of his writing, there had been "many" (spirit) of antichrist, and it is "in the world", at the time of that writing. That spirit brings the message that is antithetical to the gospel of the kingdom, and it is the message of the tare seed, which is the message of lawlessness. It will be accepted as the way to salvation, whereas it is the broad way to "destruction" (Matthew 7:13). To the righteous "few", he will be deemed as "evil", such as the foremost sinner, but to the perishing/sinners, he will be viewed as a savior.

1 John 4:3 - And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

1 John 2:18 - Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

And what determines if a person's actions are evil or good?

The people who gripe about the anti-Christ the loudest were the first to vote for him. :p

He throws his Judaism under the bus when he's about to be executed. Instead of taking his Judaism like a man, he tries to get a "fair trial" by claiming to be Roman.

That's like saying a Jew can't be an American citizen. He was a Roman citizen by birth.
