I don't get it. I read a lot of COVID long haulers stories of ongoing suffering and misery on several forums (people whose symptoms mild and severe linger months possibly years after finally testing negative). Many to most ask for prayers to get over it and a few who praise God when they do--only to fall ill against weeks or months later in many cases.

What I don't get is the Bible says this:

I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. Isaiah 45:7

Instead of praising God we should be holding Him responsible for all the misery and death Coronavirus is doing to us. He tells us in no uncertain words He's the one who created this monstrous evil we have labeled Coronavirus.

Now before you throw "Bad translation" at me you should know that this is the King James, widely regarded as the most perfect translation ever done. Many Christians regard it as the authoritative word of God straight from God's mouth.

So God brings something as evil as Coronavirus on us and people are praising Him for it. Sort of like when someone kicks you, you say, "I like that. Do it again."

I just don't get the logic--or illogic of it, that's a better word.

I think godly worship of early Antiquity deities works on the following paradigme.

    1) you don't worship the deity and it will **** you up
    2) you do worship the deity and it might **** you up

    Seriously? o_O:rolleyes:

In this case though, the translation seems alright.

Well, your question is only relevant to a certain category of God. So in the broad sense the answer follows what kind of God you take for granted.

First of all, as Ecclesiastes 8:9 says that MAN has dominated MAN to MAN's hurt, MAN's injury.
If everyone on Earth practiced or lived by the Golden Rule suffering would Not be as it is today.

In Scripture the English word ' evil ' as at Isaiah 45:7 is Not always synonymous with wrong doing.
At verse 7 it is more in connection to a calamity.
For example: it was a calamity that happened to Adam and Eve for breaking God's Law.
They were Not forced to break the law, so they suffered the calamity for their disobedience.
God always fulfills His words. They broke the Law so the Law had to be carried out.

Not just from those suffering lingering symptoms, we are all part of Satan's challenge - Job 2:4-4
Sinner Satan not only challenged the man Job but includes all of us.
Touch our 'flesh'... ( loose physical health ) and we would Not serve God.
Both Job and Jesus under adverse conditions proved faithful to God and so can we.

Because of suffering is why we are all invited to pray the invitation of Rev. 22:20 for Jesus to come !
Come and undo all the damage Satan and Adam brought upon humanity.
There is coming ' healing ' for earth's nations according to Revelation 22:2
'Healing' to the point that No one will say, " I am sick...." Isaiah 33:24
People will be healthy as described in Isaiah 35th chapter.
So, God has a future planned as found at Jeremiah 29:11. Mankind will fear No calamity any more - Zephaniah 3:15 B

Fears brain-swelling Nipah virus with up to 75% death rate 'may become next pandemic'

    Matthew Dresch

Scientists are worried about the brain-swelling Nipah disease, which has a death rate of up to 75%, potentially becoming the next 'big' virus.

The fruit bat-borne disease has sparked fears among experts as it is high rate of mutation and is extremely deadly.

Vomiting, seizures and brain swelling are some of the symptoms of the virus, which first jumped from pigs to farmers in Malaysia in 1999.

The mortality rate of Nipah ranges between 40 to 75%, far higher than the 1% rate for coronavirus, according to the World Health Organisation.

The body named the disease as one of 16 priority pathogens that need to be researched due to their potential to spark an epidemic, The Sun reports.

A total of 260 viruses have been epidemic potential, experts found.

Nipah is particularly worrying as it has high rate of mutation and an incubation period of up to 45 days, meaning a person could spread it for more than a month before falling sick.

Scientists are worried that the next pandemic could be far worse than the coronavirus crisis.

    Surely he will save you
    from the fowler’s snare
    and from the deadly pestilence.

He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.

    Peaceful Sabbath.

Gods goodness makes the possibility of evil available.

Lucifer rebellion spilled over to Eve and Adam. They could have sorted out disease and eliminated viruses had they not rebelled.

Of course God creates everything, without God nothing happens

    BUT

There are natural Laws, some call it science, like gravitation. So far, most people have no problem to believe in gravitation, and they don't blame God when they fall from the Eiffel Tower and break their bones, because they slipped accidentally.

Suddenly when it comes to diseases they start blaming God, this I don't get. It's exactly the same. Now it's not God's Law of Gravity, but now it's God's Law of Karma. In the dirty wet markets in Wuhan the virus was easily spread. Everyone knows (if a bit educated) that we should clean up our houses a little bit, nothing fancy, but at least don't leave to much rotten food laying around, and esp. when fungus starts growing and gets all black, you are asking for diseases to enter your house. That is called karma. Our action (or better inaction in properly cleaning the house) results in reaction of bugs and viruses, even Corona virus. Not for nothing that W.H.O. now suggests to us to keep our house a bit clean and wash our hands a little bit, use maybe some disinfectant etc.

So, if humans do certain actions, then there is bound to come a reaction. Dirty wet markets are bound to generate corona viruses as we have seen.

Nothing special. Of course God creates everything, but this corona virus is due to us having filthy habits. If you step on a banana peel you might slip and break bones. Do you blame God for this? IF you keep a dirty wet market you might contract corona virus, now suddenly you start blaming God?

    This I don't get.

IF God "brought the corona virus" to us, then God also brought us everything that we love most in the world. Would you trade away the latter to rid yourself of the former? Would you trade away your life just to avoid death?

    Then stop complaining. ;)

Well I suppose going by that logic God also brought us the bubonic plague, measles, polio, mumps, chicken pox/shingles etc.
Though to be fair that would also mean God gave us the tools to fight them effectively, namely vaccines.
This isn’t the first time humanity has had to grapple with an infectious disease/pandemic. Though one might think it judging the actions of certain folks.

The Key here is Submission unto God and God's Laws.

In those laws is the balance the world needs.

I don't get a God who professes to care about us, then sends a plague on us. Plagues were a good God-play in the old Moses Biblical times but today plagues like COVID just seem so out of place. They're messy and they turn people away from God way more than they did 3000 years ago, thanks to scientific knowledge we have now that we didn't way back then. It's almost like God has started a zero-sum game with us--trying to see how many people He can drive away from him and in to the arms of satan before He finally relents and says, Okay, I've lost enough souls to satan this round. I'd better stop." And people just go on praising Him for all the misery He heaps on them. I don't want people to hate God. I think that's pointless. But I would like people to step back from their biases and look at the cold hard facts for once.

King James, the greatest translation in the history of man uses the word, "evil". I'll stick with evil.

The facts are is that we rebel against God, which in turn is rebelling against the entire system of creation we are part of.

Why would we think we can show disobedience against a perfect balanced system and not think there will be consequences?

    Regards Tony
