Why Not Sexualized Female Movie Characters?

Or is mild erotic content in movies a no-no?
Mild, or even heavy, erotic content in movies is fine (I prefer it to wanton violence) but I don't think erotic content is the same thing as sexualisation. Erotic is honest about the nature of human desire.

Sexualisation, on the other hand, is dishonest as it objectifies a person to serve a cultural 'need'. I've noticed that the US 'geist' struggles with a "virgin/whore" complex where sex is considered dirty and something to be ashamed of but at the same time 'innocent' Barbie Doll girls are drooled over by guys secretly wanting them to be really 'dirty'. Britney Spears sort of sums that whole thing up for me.

No interracial couples in US movies either, though US porn depicts a flip side. Taboos are only fun if you set them up to fail - whilst genuinely fighting to maintain them in public life.

Oh the sweet, twisted torture of it all!

It isn't. Sexualization is a verb. It's what is done within a movie. Erotic is a noun. It's the effect of sexualization.

It's just an extension of glamorous makeup, fashionable hair design, attractive cloths, and a purposely alluring demeanor. All elements, one could say, that are designed to objectify women; although, I wouldn't take "objectify" as meaning demeaning or degrading. I don't see anything at all degrading about the methods listed above to make a woman more appealing. And, whereas some may find the expression of sexual appeal to be disgusting, or whatever, I don't.In fact, I welcome it.

Contradiction, irrationality and disorder
I'm all for letting it hang out but two opposing issues I find with sex/nudity in society:

  1. Treated too shallowly, too based solely on the carnal side of our animalistic arousal
  2. Treated with too much stigma (by both the religious and political alt-left camps)

I think when it comes to movies, the way it's actually used and the context of it, plays a large role in how I would perceive it. A good campy old-fashion sexploitation film is always a thrill and so is an emotionally intense movie where the character's intimacy is meant to deeply compel the audience.
It's context.

For the record, I have seen many movies that forced such things in, which didn't impress or entertain, rather drew my attention away from the film.
