If you say that you're Christian and you believe in God and Jesus but you don't believe in some of the bible, say Noah's Flood, or alot of the tenets, what percentage are you Christian? Why not, if you're christian or any Religion that has a popular dogma, don't you believe in it fully, why not dive head first and totally commit to it? At what point does one stop being a Christian? What's the minimum requirement?

You stop being Christian once you put sugar on your porridge.

...Wait, that's the wrong analogy. Nevermind.

To some people, "being Christian" dosen't mean believing in a book.

Considering the endless variations of religious beliefs, the only thing required to be a member of most religions is to label yourself as such. Although, some seem to require various ceremonies involving water, incantations, and/or wearing funny clothes, etc.

As far as not believing in the factual truth of certain religious stories, the new fashion seems to be to label stories as "metaphor" once the viability of such stories becomes untenable.

doesn't being a christian mean being christ like?
and how does one know how christ was like...paul never mentions jesus' characteristics...we get contradicting stories of jesus demeanor with the 4 gospels...

i think people grow up, and i'm talking in the western world, hearing about the baby jesus and stories about him since they were little kids which obviously leaves a strong impression. imo it's because jesus is the answer to life's hardest truth, death. ...he is the bridge to eternal life and because of him we will get to see our loved ones again...

i think the minimum requirement for being a christian is to believe jesus is the son of god, whatever that means...

Christianity is not dependent on belief in the bible. There are other books that can be believed outside the canon created by majority. Being christian just means believing in christ and trying to be christ like.

Even to be a bible believer you can believe all sorts of things about the book. You don't have to take all those stories literally to believe the bible is good enough to attain salvation.

There are no percentages. One either is -- or is not -- Christian. One is Christian if one embodies Christ in the world.

I do haha!:)

Not really, people can label themselves how they want. Not everyone will agree, ever. Some would go as far as to say that if your a bad christian your no christian at all.

What is the difference between a good Christian and a bad Christian?

Do you count believing that some of the Bible books and stories are symbolic as not believing in them?

But if you follow Jesus and His commands, then you are 100% Christian. There are no other percentages that I'm aware of.

Depends on who you talk to. Some don't think Catholics are cristians cause of idols. Some don't think JWs are christians cause they don't think Jesus is God with a capital G. To many a bad chrisitian is someone who believes heresy which is subject to interpretation from every different sect out there.

The bare minimum,
Oil, and In'Tent.

(ie, an anointing)

(and even the oil isn't absolutely necessary. ;) )
