I worked at Mcdonalds in Denver. The owner was told she would face a huge fine if she didn't fire all her illegal immigrants. She fired them all and they did the job way better than the Americans did. Quite frankly, after the illegals were fired, there was hardly anyone left, making drive-through times an outrageous wait, and terribly stressful!

We were way understaffed and I proceeded to stab myself at a certain point with a box-cutter, not really trying to die, just fed up with my job and left a trail of blood throughout the restaurant. I went out with a bang I suppose and will never list them as refrences, and and will be unemployed rather than work Mcdonalds again.

My last job was working as a remodeling assistant for some Vietnamese immigrant last spring, but then someone stole my phone and it had his number, and I was forced into a facility for a few months, so I don't know how to get a hold of the guy again. It's unfortunate because it was one of the better jobs I've had.

Here are some other reasons you should never work there and possibly never even eat there. It's actually worth reading how terrible Mcdonalds is:

The food alone is valid reason not to eat there. Yuck.

I've heard some horror stories about McDonald's. Its true that one is probably better off not working there if they can help it.

I avoid working at any and all fast food restaurants. **** pay, **** customers, and not the best food either.

I will occasionally ask my wife not to cook and go to McD's for two Chicken n Bacon wrap meals with chips and tropicana drinks. £9.99
    It's a tasty change....... :)

I could never fathom myself ever owning a McDonalds, not ever! I just couldn't comprehend myself ever being in that position to answer the question.

I probably would have been in the position where I had to get rid of the illegals , but I'd hate to have to do that.

I listened to a chef who said the best thing that happened to him was working at Maccers, they taught him safe handling of food and how to work in a kitchen. He said advises anyone wanting to get into the food industry to work for a year with them. Maybe things are different in Australia.

However I agree about the food, it's not good.

If we're going to do fast food, we go to Burger King.

I'm not exactly sure what Maccers is, but I imagine its another fast food chain? :)

I imagine fast food in general would teach one to be quick and to multi-task, which tends to be needed in the restaurant industry.

So you do understand the position that your boss was in.
In a tough World, that was your chance to stay and push for promotion, I think.
McD's is not at all bad. There is no place that will be perfect for you.
Well, that's what I found in life, anyway.

We really do like Burger King burger meals.

But there is not one that is close to us. :)

I know a guy who had very little education, ended up going through Macca's managerial training, before eventually getting a 'real' job. He speaks well of his time there.

    Again, though, that's in Australia.

Which we call Hungry Jack's (FYI)

McDonalds is waaaay to long a word for us Aussies, so Macca's it is.

I worked for an in house catering company at the MCG as one of my first jobs (ie. Biggest stadium in Australia).

They didn't treat their staff great, so I didn't stay too long. But learning about rostering, handling money, doing end of shift reconciliations and handovers, and getting a food handling certificate were all of value, even though I was just cooking pies and pouring Coke.

British McDonalds sounds quite different from American McDonalds. They never sell chips here, after all they have the highest rated fries of all of fast foodom:D

And I do not think that they even know what a wrap is at Mickey D's.

It's not about staying at a job like that , as much as it is learning how to work. I started out as a pretty bad worker, but now I'd say I'm pretty good at 35. (though not at a social job like fast food, to my regret). So now I can probably walk into any factory in America, and probably not get fired. That to me is worth gold: economy of movement and speed working with my hands

And at this point, I can actually work faster than most people. I am about to send 2 people at a press on break at the same time, because I can do the job of two people pretty easily

Nope. At least not last time that I was there. It has been over a year.
