Why don’t you believe in God?

Wait, how can rational minds KNOW something exists when there is no evidence? That's absurd.

I suggest you adjust your opinion.

I'm only kidding in case you didn't know.

Read the books that others would burn.
Is it because of your inability to believe in anything that can’t be explained by science?

Nope. I don't believe in a theistic "God" because IF such a being exists, ascribing human qualities to it turns it into something far lesser than anything rightfully called "God."

Funny. So, you think you are the one to say how God is or should be.
I don't think that is the real God, no matter what you think.

There's no benevolent power at work on planet Earth. There exists a brutal, survival, and power game amongst humans. The universe is hostile and indifferent to life on Earth. If humanity is to survive then power needs be given to the trustworthy and deserving instead of merely using up such people as pawns.

If God is charitable and benevolent then no such God exists for the aforementioned reasons. If any other God would exist without charity and benevolence then that God is merely worthless.

The universe behaves as there were no transcendent force. Existence couldn't care less about transcendence. Life is a scavenger and beggar in the universe.

Nothing on Earth indicates that life has an ideal existence somewhere out there. Honest working humans are what produce the quality of life that so many people enjoy, yet they themselves receive little reward. If there were a God we would see justice operating in the world.
I just found this thread today and I got all the way to #100 and it was worth it to run into you again. :)

You are looking for a God that does not exist. You are assuming that if God was charitable and benevolent you would be able to se the effects of God on Earth, but God does not intervene on Earth. God only sends Messengers and if people follow them then they will be charitable and benevolent.

If humanity is to survive then power needs be given to the trustworthy and deserving people instead of people waiting for God to do the heavy lifting.

Nothing on Earth indicates that life on Earth has an ideal existence since there is no ideal existence on Earth, only in Heaven.

I see no justice in the world. Nor is there any proof God exists. It's not a matter of rejecting what I know is there. It's a matter of dismissing what I know is not there.
If there is no justice in the world that is NOT because there is not God since it is not God's responsibility to bring justice to this world.
That is a human responsibility.

No, there is no proof that God exists, only evidence. I know that God exists because of the evidence.

Hi Trailblazer, always good to see you there!

Did God put us here on Earth then? Or did God just happen to find us here? If God put us here then that's not a very masterful creation to say the very least! God left us in dire circumstances!
It's only the science of humans, and the constant vigilance of people who fend off war that give us the appearance of civilization.

God could lift a finger to help. Point us in the right direction with obviousness and clarity.

Sorry for my cranky pessimism, I just read a book entitled, ' The 48 Laws of Power ' by Robert Greene. I thought it was extremely wicked for the most part.

Do you have evidence that leprechauns do not exist? Is that why you reject belief in them?
If there was evidence that leprechauns do not exist why would anyone believe they exist?

I don't see a belief in God as practical. I'd need to get some benefit or advantage from such a belief. There is just no practical reason to believe anything about a God. IOW, life works out for me fine without any beliefs about a God.
I am glad that life has worked out well for you without a God belief, but that is not true for everyone.....
For most of my life I believed in God but I did not really believe since I knew little about God and I had no faith.
Now that I know who God is and I have faith my life is so much better than before even though I still have the same problems.

If any god wants my attention they know how to get it.

Since I have not even heard chirping crickets in that regard, i will continue as though they do not want my attention.
Yes, God would know how, but why would God want your attention?

I never made any claim that god wants my attention.
In fact, I would have thought it pretty clear that I am pretty sure god does not want my attention simply because god has not gotten my attention.
