Why does YHWH desire blood sacrifices?

Pegg

Jehovah our God is One
So far...everyone seems to think God wants blood....
But no one is saying why?

There's plenty of scripture to indicate God never did.

Did anyone really answer my viewpoint about Cain and Abel?
I think not.
The practice took hold without God's command.
What do you think was really happening there?

exactly right, the practice took hold without God requesting it.

The fact is that we die for our sins with our own blood - our life. The children of Adam hoped that by offering the blood of an animal instead, they might be able to save themselves from impending death, hoping that the animals blood would cover their sins... but they soon learned that it didnt work.

The point though is that animal blood was never NEVER sufficient...if it were, then mankind would not be dying at all. The apostle Paul explained it at Hebrews 10:1-4 10 For since the Law has a shadow of the good things to come, but not the very substance of the things, [men] can never with the same sacrifices from year to year which they offer continually make those who approach perfect. 2 Otherwise, would the [sacrifices] not have stopped being offered, because those rendering sacred service who had been cleansed once for all time would have no consciousness of sins anymore? 3 To the contrary, by these sacrifices there is a reminding of sins from year to year, 4 for it is not possible for the blood of bulls and of goats to take sins away

So God allowed the sacrifices to continue because, as Paul said above, it 'reminded' mankind of their sins and it made people realise they needed a savior.

Good to see we have the same observation ...at first.

But you turn to a salvation rant, immediately.

The sacrifices offered by Cain and Able were made to do what?...
wash sin away?

According to the story Abel's sacrifice was acceptable.
His sins were forgive?....what sin?
Cain's sacrifice was not sufficient....what sin remained?
And God continued to talk to Cain afterward.
Cain still retained God's attention and presence.
Cain's sacrifice failed in what way?

Sacrifice was a misconception....from the very beginning.
The spilling of blood means nothing.

But then...the book speaks of Abel's sacrifice as acceptable....why?
and to what effect?
I think the participants here in this thread are still missing the point.
