why did jesus refer to himself like a thief in the night to a believer? why do some call him the king of thieves?

because he's like an angel of death for those sleeping in the dust? unaware?

Either because he "steals" hearts and turns them to God or because people would not notice him when he came to turn the world toward God. Or both.

Where did Jesus call himself a thief?
I mean beside in Revelations which was only a dream or vision that John had?

You probably mean, why did Jesus liken his coming to a thief in the night? He explained.

he was actually called the king of thieves by some. maybe he stole hearts? or stole their beliefs and fantasies by exposing them to the light?

Jesus didn’t call himself a thief. He told that he comes like thief in the night, unexpectedly.

if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and looks like a duck, then its probably a duck of some sort.

being a thief is not necessarily a bad thing; especially as a trickster who plays a rigged game.

matthew 13:13

in order to catch a thief, you have to think like one. its that aha!!! moment. like the man who built his house on a sandbar and the rains came. washed it all away with a little outpouring of the mind,.

or like lightening flashing from east to west, or in the twinkling of an eye.

Revelation 16:15
Right. His coming, is like that of a thief in the night.

@Fool If someone says Usain Bolt sprinted like a cheetah on the hunt, it's not calling Bolt a cheetah. Is it?
(Luke 13:20, 21) And again he said: “With what can I compare the Kingdom of God? It is like leaven that a woman took and mixed with three large measures of flour until the whole mass was fermented.”
The kingdom of God is not leaven.
These are called similes.

Thanks, Nakosis.

yes they are and he won't be coming on a cloud and he didn't disappear in a cloud either. you don't move mountains as much as love moves mounds of flesh. a spirit is a mind, or consciousness, and so on and so forth and blah! blah! blah!!!!

Np. I don't see anywhere in those scriptures where Jesus is called 'king of thieves'.
you don't suppose the pharisees saw him as stealing away their livelihoods by telling them their practices were wrong? didn't he steal about in secret as mentioned in the bible?

didn't he use parables and similes to : to seize, gain, or win by trickery, skill, or daring?
