The problem is... I agree... I just don't know why you do.

God is Divine.

God has a son.

This son is not Divine.

This son is an angel.

... but the other angels are not God's sons.

WHAT?

Try to follow along:

If a dog has an offspring it's a ?......... dog. Right?

If a chicken has an offspring it's a?.................... chicken. Right?

If a human has an offspring it's a?................. human. Right?

If God has an offspring it's a?..................... God. Right?

:D

The son is devine-like but not devine, the son gets his power from the power source, and that is the devine one Jehovah God if we follow along with the bible we cant go wrong

1+1+1= NOOOOOOO NOT 1 but 3. As for God having children then this is absurd the reason being God did NOT have a sexual relationship with a woman. I think we are God's creation NOT children.

most of the confusion arises because of wrong translations ,regarding hebrews 1;8 this is the correct translation of this verse
But with reference to the Son: "God is your throne forever and ever, and [the] scepter of your kingdom is the scepter of uprightness......so is Jesus theGod spoken of in this verse. No,the one spoken of here is Jehovah God not Jesus.when it says God is your (the sons)throne forever and ever.this shows that Jesus throne, his office or aurthority as a sovereign, has its source in Jehovah the Almighty God. we have to take the context into consideration here ,in many translations in the main text or in the margin hebrews 1;9 reads,God ,your God,anoited you. this makes it clear that the one adressed in verse 8 is not God,but one who worships God and is annointed by him, also hebrews 1;8 is a quotation from psalm 45;6,7. which was adressed to a human king of israel.the writer of this psalm did not think that this human king was Almighty God and the writer of hebrews didnt think that Jesus was Almighty God either.no , (Elo-him God)in the original would not have been adressed to the king

With good reason, a number of translations render Hebrews 1:8 as, "God is your throne." (See An American Translation, Moffatt; also the marginal reading in American Standard Version, Revised Standard Version and The New English Bible.) This makes it clear that the "Son," Jesus Christ, has a God who is higher than he is.

Okay, well, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one, because I use and accept the KJV as the word of God.

I don't think the word of God was given in English.

I also think that those that write the inspired word never heard of English.

The KJV is only a translation, no better than any other. It is not the original word of God. :(

I realize that, Jensen. And what you use is also only a translation. Mine differs from yours, that's all. And actually, I agree with May (and probably you) that "the "Son," Jesus Christ, has a God who is higher than he is."

I was looking through this site, and I found this thread ( I havent read any of it simply because its 9 pages). A lot of my muslim firends ask me this question, and I always give a big, complicated answer. They never understand it, so I will attempt an extremly simple answer to this question.

Pretend that the holy trinity is like acetate ( a type of salt). Now Jesus is the Carbon, The holy spirit is the hydrogen, and the father is the oxygen (I am not giving each member a certain element based on any properties, this is just an example). What do you get when you add Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen? You get acetate (C2H3O2)! What do you get when you add the Father, the Son, and the Holy spirit? The holy trinity!
That is how I see the trinity.

P.S. Forgive me if my science is wrong, but it's the idea that should matter.

Hi, C&N.

Would it be accurate to say, then, that you consider the Father, Son and Holy Ghost as being physically distinct from one another? Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen, of course, can exist independently of each other. It is only when they combine that they are known as acetate. Are Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen "aspects" or "manifestations" of acetate or are they the elements which together make up acetate? Is Carbon, on its own, fully acetate? Just some food for thought. (I realize that no anology is perfect, but I really have a hard time with this one.)

Yes, they are physically distinct, and I think that each member sort of "specializes" in his own area. I see the holy spirit as like the miracle specialist, the Lord Jesus Christ as like the forgiving, gentle character, and the Father as like the one who grants justice, and is like the warrior ( Not that the Father loves war, but he is like the tough guy). But if we were to some how put the Father, Son, and Holy spirit in like the same scenario, I bet they would each do the same thing. Although physically different, I believe they share the same spirit/soul.

Your questions are hard! I haven't even read the whole bible yet, but I will try my best at these questions. You are asking if the holy trinity sort of divided into three parts right? Well, from what I have read in the bible I can't even find the word trinity. I guess the whole "Trinity" is like the ultimate team or something, and the three member are the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Katzpur said:

I want to say no... It seems in the bible that each member of the trinity have the same capabilities and wisdom, but there is no "I" in team hahaha. So I guess during the bible's time, two members would just sit up in heaven while the other one did the work that each were fully capable of doing. But then again if each have the capabilities of the other, then one is no more powerful than three... I guess there are three though to reach the humans in different ways I am guessing. I hope somebody on this thread with more knowledge than me can clear this up.

But! What I know for sure is why christians believe Jesus was greater than a man, to simply answer this thread makers question! GEN 1.26 "Then God said 'And now we will make human beings; They will be like us and resemble us...'" God (the Father) is saying us, like there is more than one person there. Which means that God is not alone in the creation. God was accompanied with the holy spirit, and Jesus! Yay! Therefor if Jesus was there during the creation, then he must not be a mere human if humans were made like him.

true, i agree , and i think that in these last days (of manruling himself) that things regarding the pure word of God will become abundant
And as for you, O Daniel, make secret the words and seal up the book, until the time of [the] end. Many will rove about, and the [true] knowledge will become abundant."...Daniel 12;4 yes this scripture is mainly refering to bible prophecy ,but i think that the pure word of God will never disappear .and Jehovah has and will reveal error that has gone unchallenged for centuries with wrong translations.so yes all translations are just that, translations. only the original penmen were inspired.

How exactly... can something be divine-like?

How exactly does divinty= God's power and might... get diminished?

What power lessened God's power? This power would have to be stonger that God, correct?

.. or was it simple chemistry? Divinity and blood don't mix well... the power and might of the Creator of all the world was "thinned out" to divine-lite?

Great taste!

Less filling!

when God said let US make man he was talking to his firstborn son ,jesus had a pre- human life in the heavens with his Father before he came to the earth as a man.and this first born son was the one that Jehovah used to make everything in the heaven and on the earth but the power source was from Jehovah God
because by means of him(Jesus) all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All [other] things have been created through him and for him. ....colossians 1;16but where does Jesus look to for his guidence ?Jehovah God of course, his Father

All things came into existence through him, and apart from him not even one thing came into existence.John 1;3

Therefore, in answer, Jesus went on to say to them: "Most truly I say to YOU, The Son cannot do a single thing of his own initiative, but only what he beholds the Father doing. For whatever things that One does, these things the Son also does in like manner. ...john 5;19yes Jehovah is Jesus teacher, and power source

Just as the living Father sent me forth and I live because of the Father, he also that feeds on me,(Jesus) even that one will live because of me...john 6;57 we can get everlasting life from Jesus but the son lives because of the Father , because the father is the power source

You didn't answer my questions.... so here's another you can choose not to answer:

Why did God make a powerless Son?

This creature you call Christ seems to me no more than a puppet... not human, not divine... an empty shell "powered" by God.

If God was the "power source", why was Christ needed? What was the point Christ on earth? Did God just choose to have this creature tortured and killed on the Cross for kicks?

I ask this because I don't understand what the point of your Christ is... God could have given me everlasting life with the "snap of a finger"... what was the whole production about then, if Christ was a non-divine "meat puppet", powerless to do anything but be nailed to a plank of wood?

I see it in a slightly different way.

God= the complete Network. God the Father = Super Node via a cable Connection at remote location. God the Son = Super Node on the Network. Holy Spirit= the TCP/IP stack with data on the Holy Network.

the reason Gods son came to earth was as a RANSOM sacrifice so that we could get everlasting life back. Jesus was a perfect man the same as Adam and eve before they sinned but think about what a ransom means ,it is buying something back for a price.noone but a perfect son of God could pay the price because all humans had inherited inperfection . Jesus proved that satan does not always win because he didnt with Jesus he kept on serving God right to the end not like the first couple .you must know about the ransom if you have studied the bible?
For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life...john 3;16

How can anyone but GOD save us?

noone but a perfect son of God could pay the price because all humans had inherited inperfection.
again... only God can forgive sins... not a man.

... and again, you do not answer my questions.. only create more..... I give up. :(

Bless you may, you are in my prayers.
