Why Biden seems to me like a one-term President...

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
A black, female democrat president. That will really make republicans upset, on three levels.
I would love to see a capable and smart conservative black woman as president.
That would tip the scales a bit as well.

I don't think she'd do it, with the GOP needing an exorcism at the moment.
I hate to say it but she's too smart to get involved. Kind of bittersweet imv, now that Powell is gone , but I don't blame her.
I can see what politics do to people.

Right now she's too busy with sports atm.

He voted many times against raising the minimum wage. He voted many times against health care reform. He voted in favor of every military action that came up. He is basically a republican, politically. And he always has been. So are a lot of other democrats in office. And it's why they keep losing elections even against known criminals and imbeciles. And they may well lose in the upcoming elections because as a party they are too corrupted by their corporate sponsor's bribe money to change their behavior. And by now most democratic voters know they are a party of useless political hacks.

If I understand it correctly, I saw Biden beat Bernie after everyone else dropped out and endorsed Biden.
Voting is just theater in a democratic presidential primary. The votes are meaningless, as the party chooses whomever it wants regardless of the vote counts. It doesn't want it's voters to know this, of course, so it tries to manipulate the primary "story line" to get the result it already intends to deliver. But even if their fail, the voters are not choosing their candidates. The party is.

There are not many minorities who are conservative. I'd say that Democrats just hope that whomever is nominated for president by Republicans is ethical and willing to cooperate with Democrats.

Do you foresee the USA failing as a democracy?

Well there must be some kind of arm reaching and compromise. I'm not sure there is another FDR waiting in the wings yet.

The anti-socialist rhetoric is so heavy from the right that even democrats are typically moderate, or even what a republican would have been in the 80's. The FDR types are heavily vilified by the right. We can barely get moderate policies passed. Politics in the USA and a few other nations are moving right and on the cusp of authoritarianism.

The U.S. is already a failed democracy. Our elections are basically just theater at this point, as all the candidates running for office are sponsored by corporate conglomerates that do as their told by those conglomerates when elected. Bribery is fully legal and blatant at this point, and an honest candidate cannot compete or function in this system unless they take the bribe money and do the bidding of those who are paying it. And when they leave office they are paid even more money to corrupt their successor. A study was done years ago correlating the will of the people with the actions of their political representatives that found no statistical correlation whatever. At this point the government represents only the will of the corporate conglomerates that pay to put them and keep them in power, and that pay them even after they leave office to perpetuate the corruption.

I understand your point. I think our system is more dysfunctional than failed at the moment. I think the GOP is a failed political party, given their following the unethical and autocratic motives of trump. We have too much money and too much disinformation, and many voters are making bad, emotional choices. I do think the 2024 election could be the point of failure IF Democrats win and republicans use their state election boards to manipulate vote counts and refuse to certify.

Democrat voters are going to have to get their **** together and show up, cast ballots in 2022.

Knit-picking Biden over minor things is likely indicative of having just had 4 years of a president who is a constant liar, termendously corrupt, and divisive in any chance he got. Biden is boring. He's old, but competent. Is he perfect? No president would be after the problems the pandemic caused, and exaggerated with trump's poor leadership. I think a lot of us are bored, and we are hitting Biden over the head for not being more entertaining.
Well that’s what happens when you pick the “anyone but the other guy” for the leader of your country, I suppose
I’ll admit that US politics is considerably less entertaining nowadays and Biden is not constantly on even our news for some blunder or another. Which Trump was, honestly.

Though my cousin (a retired Airforce officer from the US) did express to me his elation at not being made a mockery of on the world stage. As well as his immense disappointment in not having a ”constant popcorn worthy show to watch.”

Which is kind of interesting. I guess I always associated US politics with spectacle and ours as completely boring. Regardless of who was in charge. Backstabbing drama and scandals notwithstanding
