commonly just referred to as Aristocrats or Noble's they are people who bear power' titles and land. either acquired through service or passed down through generations.
they have existed for a very long time. the first Kings that existed so to did the idea of Nobles.
most commonly have a bad view on them after all if your in America we sort of kicked our kings out and never took to the idea of Nobility. however, they are far better for the people than just the wealthy.

Tradition and Loyalty:
Nobles are bound by Tradition. after all their power comes from the land itself and the titles and heritage passed down through generations. unlike normal rich who screw everyone over for a buck and can do it anywhere. a Noble has to have Loyalty to their country as their power is almost solely in assets of Land. so they are less likely to go off and move production to a place like China.

the wealthy 1% of let's say America is pretty many nobles but with none of the honor. families like S.C Johnson and such run 80% of companies or own stocks in most. we already know the Wealthy don't have to follow the same Laws as we do. they simply Lawyer and Buy their way out. and they have no problem screwing you over for a dime. so how is this any different from having Nobles?
well, Nobles are upfront in their endeavor. your just a commoner their of the noble family line and wealth that has passed down through generations. though they are also a bit less likely to screw you over fully as angry commoners equal dead nobles. so there are more likely to keep a balance. unlike the wealthy 1% who you have never seen the face of. you will be seeing and knowing exactly who the Nobles in the area are. so you can burn their house down if they slip up. see upfront

Nobility has responsibilities to make sure everything in their land and area is running smoothly for the Empire. they are also trained to do this at birth. unlike the normal rich youth who go can become drug addicts. the Nobles cant as it would dishonor their family and they could lose their power if they start slipping up. unlike senators and elected officials who bribe and lie their way in. Nobles are already in. they don't need to lie to you. and if they start failing at there job. a little french revolution never hurt anyone. furthermore, while Nobles have wealth they are not always the best Merchants most their power comes from the people who support them like pillars. so they have a requirement to not have you die or become too angry.

Nobility controlled 3/4th of commerce. them controlling that much along with monopoly and other issues lead to the French revolution. it's safe to say the 1% here control far more than 3/4ths and are allowed to do as they please and lobby when they cant. is that who you really want in power? of course not. so get Nobility instead.

Kind of an idealistic view of nobility. If the Republic/capitalism could live up to their idealistic natures I'm certain it'd all work out fine too.

Instead what happens is the flaws in these systems make themselves all too apparent and we end up wanting something different.

I follow your reasoning, but technology is like fire. Once it starts it spreads everywhere. Aristocrats in Africa are struggling to suppress the spread of technology so they can maintain their control. There are a few other holdouts where aristocracy still prevails over technology, but it can't forever. Its just too dangerous to be an aristocrat. Just 100 years ago an aristocrat could be relatively safe from assassination, but today not. Today they feel they must resort to reigns of sheer terror and torture and genocide. They have to hide their schedules, so nobody knows where they are or when the are coming. Its because they reasonably fear for their own lives.

I think I understand, but consider that if you take away copper from the populace they can still use human sweat as a conductor to make themselves radios and other electronic devices. They can coil wet paper wrapped in wax to make electromagnets. They can produce furnaces of any strength desired, manufacture from sand anything that they desire. On Earth energy is abundant. There is no limit to what a single human can do.

Although there are many problems with an aristocracy, there is one notable benefit.

If the ruling classes decided on a war, they (or their sons) would be among the ones fighting that war, with power came responsibility. The modern day power elite tend to risk nothing and gain politically or economically from such choices.

I wonder how many wars would have been avoided recently if the politicians who advocated for them would knew that they would be leading the charge in person? Just like with many online trolls who would be scared witless of saying such things to someone's face, it's very easy to play the tough guy when you can't get hurt.
