Who blew the breath of Life in man?

Since your belief is that Jehovah and Jesus are not one and the same entity, who do blew the breath (Gen 2:7) for man to be a living being; was it Jesus or Jehovah who did it? Also, why do you think it is Jesus? Or Jehovah?

Thanks!

Its true that we dont believe Jesus and Jehovah are the same individual, but we do believe that Jesus is Gods 'master worker' as discussed in Proverbs chapter 8.

As a master worker, he was instrumental in the creation of all things as can be seen by the following scripture:

Colossians 1:15  He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; 16 because by means of him all other things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All other things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all other things, and by means of him all other things were made to exist,

But Jesus does not have inborn creative power in the same way that God does. Gods power is intrinsic to his very being... he is the 'source' of all energy and power in the universe. So when we are told that all things came into existence by means of Christ, we understand that the ability to bring anything into existence was given to him by God.

You could say that Gods power was working through Jesus in the creation of all things....including the creation of man and the breath of life put within him.

So, are you essentially saying that it was Jesus who actually did the blowing of the breath?

possibly, but the bible does not specifically say. It says that God blew into his nostrils the breath of life. Jesus may have formed the man from dust under Gods direction, and then God himself brought the man to life.

Which ever way we look at it, only God has the power to give life, so even if Jesus did the blowing, the power came from God.

What is your view in this regard?

I am lost... first you said:

but then you said:

Why would you say make the first statement when you are aware of the second one?

yes i thought that might confuse you.

Colosians says that 'all things came into existence through' Christ. And Genesis says that it was God who blew breath into Adam.

So does Genesis mean that God personally blew the breath into him, or did he do it through Jesus.... the bible doesnt specifically say if it was Jesus who blew the breath into the man.

Colossians may or may not mean that Jesus himself brought the man to life. But if he did, then he could only have done it by means of Gods power and under his instruction and if that the case, then Genesis is correct in saying that God blew breath into the man because he is the ultimate source of that breath.

Ok. So as it stands, the only accurate response, from a JW's perspective, is that we don't know whether God or Jesus blew the living breath in man.

I thought the only God could have done that but I am learning something new now..

Ok, thanks much, as usual, Pegg.
