I agree with this message from Trump. We do have to learn to live with it (or die from it) with or without vaccin. We can't escape reality:D

In what universe does "learn to live with it" equate to "I don't care how many die from it?"

Also I would think learning to live with it would reduce suffering and job loss. But you're right. Complaining about it on a forum is probably more likely to reduce suffering.

How about the same way that much of the rest of the world has?

Why does the US have to learn to live with it? New Zealand isn't being forced to 'live with it'. They took steps to actually fight it and they haven't had a new case in over 3 weeks. I'm sick of folks saying that the United States just isn't capable of doing what lots of nations in the world have accomplished.

Actually they're finding a way to live WITHOUT it. Sadly there appears to be far too many in this country who thinks that the United States just isn't as capable as other nations and WE just have to learn to live with a stark increase in cases.

We can stay home, wear masks, we can have manufacturers make masks and gloves for hospital workers drs nurses etc, we can get more hospital rooms and beds, what will we do when we are too short of hospital beds by living with it? We don't have the money and the room for us to live with it. We have to fight it. We need hospital beds we need meds, vaccine, we need jobs food, many people are going without food because of loss of jobs We need money, how are we going to get along without all of this stuff we need by just living with it?

I would have less of a problem with this rhetoric if it wasn't coming from someone who is doing as much as they can to distance themselves from the problem and avoid taking any responsibility or real leadership in dealing with it.

Yes, it's true that humans have to live with existing on planet earth which is in a constant state of change.

No, it isn't true that humans have to live with incompetent leaders who bury their heads in the sand to save face instead of tackling serious national issues like they are supposed to.

Learning to live with it, to me, means learning to manage it.

Clearly we suck at doing this, and this is evident nearly everywhere I look. I had to go to Market Square in Cleveland yesterday and, with the exception of a few people wearing masks, one would think COVID-19 didn’t exist.

Try not to watch media and stats etc. It only makes emotions worse. The virus isnt going anywhere. Neither is cancer and fear. It is what it is. We have treatments to use and live with them both. I don't have good or bad feelings on Trump. He does have a point. I think after awhile the virus won't be a political engine. Once the politics is gone, fear decreases. Media have better things to overwhelm the public about and we can focus on a cure without distractions.

I mean how long do you think Americans should be out of work etc in quartine, masks, and social distancing until they find a vaccine?

If all deadly viruses just needed this technique, we would have done it long time ago. It is what it is. Politics aside. Its life.

You clearly have a different definition of living with it. Of course we should fight it. That a part of learning to live with it.

It would appear you see living with it as just throwing in the towel.

Put it in perspective. What about other illnesses? We have treatment and some cures but that doesn't make them less deadly and certainly doesn't change the nature of the illnesses being deadly. Some illnesses can only be treated in a handful of hospital specialists.

I'm sure Trump isn't saying let the people die. People die of illnesses all the time but there are other things to look at: jobs, other health problems, childcare, and things like half the people who have always been sick can't go into grocery stories because they don't have masks. And I bet the fear would scare people helping those who are sick without the virus. So, best we can do is help when we can, do things to help others and ourselves, and stop focusing on Just the virus but our economy as a whole. Virus is an immediate problem but job loss is becoming long term. We can't control reality of nature but we can hopefully people's wellbeing and needs to support themselves.

Of course there are. Staying home, wearing masks in public, social distancing, etc.

People need to be responsible, and the problem we have in the US is we have too many that aren’t.

My friend in another county wanted me to come spend the 4th with her and her kids. I declined because with the spike of new cases in my county, I’m concerned about the possibility of getting them sick and of spreading COVID-19 to another county. So I’m sitting in the living room watching NASCAR instead.

Good to hear. When you asked How? to the statement But we can fight it, it sounded as if you didn't think there were any steps we could take.
