If the Biblical god really exists, and is not a figment of the imagination, why does it not make its presence clear without equivocation?

By not revealing its presence in a way that is irrefutable, it would be most unjust if unbelief resulted in dire consequences as some would have you believe.

YHVH was as well, getting angry, vengeful, wrathful, jealous, etc, these are all physical traits....Not like the Most High who is without form. ;)

Here's the problem (IMHO), once you define, or try to define, God then you haven't.

God is 'Spirit'. As in untouchable and invisible. In the dark times when evil lords want you to serve the gods of war, belief in an invisible God is the ethical choice to live peacefully. God does not need money or the glory of war. God doesn't care about mere kingdoms. God respects nobody. That's the God of the Bible. Its very important that God does not make its presence clear, or it will just be another tangible, hungry, bloodthirsty god.

    I agree.

Notice that Jesus is not available for comment. He does not need anything.

Originally the Canaanites had a pantheon, with Elyon (Most High) being at its head.... YHVH was given the nation of Israel as his people, which is what the Biblical text stated to begin. :innocent:

What evidence is there that god is anything but a figment of the human imagination?

What doesn't that guy Jesus need?

Where is God? That's easy..He lives within the gaps in our knowledge, both collectively and individually.

For a god or goddess I could find you evidence but not for God. It would be pointless, but here is one indirect argument. The gods argue and fight, so they are unstable. They cannot be the source of all, because they have origins. So there is some source other than them, some where or some what from which everything appears. It must be something invisible and untouchable.

Lets keep it simple and not try discussing Jesus. Your OP is about God.

Do we need to see the cars manufacturers to believe that they made the cars?

There are multiple ways of looking at it. Off-hand:
    1) Yahweh and/or El were originally human tribal leaders who were deified through the process of evolving legend. They did exist, but are dead now, though their legends remain.
    2) Ancient deities were local affairs. Go to Israel if you want Yahweh. Go to China if you want the Jade Emperor. Go to blah blah if you want blah blah ...
    3) "BibleGod" had some sort of "home turf" HQ or whatever even if one argues He rules the entire planet. It is not apparently on the surface of the earth, given what happens in Job.

So don't show up with a human body then. :)

Pantheons usually had a "Head Honcho" who was more epic and aloof and such. El was this for the Canaanite/Hebrew pantheon.

If you see a Honda logo slapped on a Toyota, do you just assume it's a Honda?

According to scripture, no one has seen god.
How do you define god so that you know whether or not he is present in your life? What is a god to you?

God is an evil character featured in the Bible, which I think is a human creation, at least I hope so. Belief in it spoilt my childhood!

You can't confirm that the car has a maker just because it exists. Many things in life don't have makers but they exist "or come to existence to us" because of pre-existing things (sperm and egg equals a baby) type of thing. The baby wasn't created by god but people who don't know how a baby is formed they may think just because the baby exist, there must be a creator.

Unless you have already established beliefs that there should be some one who created everything on earth, just looking at a car, moon, or a piece of trash shows nothing in and of itself.

If god of the bible is an evil character, why don't you move on to other god(s)?

Why does it matter if it is created by humans or not? We create a lot of cool things that we can take advantage of spiritually.

You don't have to discredit humanity even if god is a man-made belief. Just admit it, accept it, and if it helps you, so be if not, why the god of the bible?

We aren't the manufacturer of the process that lead to human and other living things,
I don't see that we need to see it but we have to realize it.

The point is, though, there doesn't need to be a maker regardless if you can see it or not.

Humans try to find origins to everything to give themselves grounding. It helps to know where you're from so you know where you are and where yo are going.

That is not the way the world works. Everything has always existed in one way or another. A car has always been a car we just didn't define it as a car until someone formed already existing parts and material together to shape what we now define as a car.

Things aren't created from no where. Space isn't created. The universe isn't created. Since everything is not created from thin air, there is no creator.

What we considered "created" is just already existed things put together to make something else we haven't seen or experienced before. We label it, define it, and wallah! A Car.
