It seems that Christians are forgetting perhaps Jesus' most important teaching. We need to show love to sinners not scorn. The sin of homosexuals, prostitutes, atheists, etc, etc should not be a reason to condemn them. There sins are no worse than our own. We should be reaching out to these people most of all.

I think that many want to help but take things to far. I feel that some bring the truth of love the sinner but hate the sin but when they dont get the response they think they should get they go into attack mode. This shouldnt happen but it does we as believers need corrections from our brothers and sisters when this happens, so its good that you created this topic. God bless

    Just a question.

If "their sins are no worse than your own",
why should you be reaching out to "those people" most of all.

Why not just "reach a hand out" to people who actually need a hand up in some real way?

I personally would prefer that you condemn me,
than that you try and "save" me from my own life,
from my own Self, and my own happiness.

Eight years as a devout christian almost killed me.
    I'm not drowning anymore.

Why not go and save someone who is?

Loving people is about loving them.
Not stepping in to try and make them live like you choose to live.

i would offer my belief to people but i wouldnt force it on anyone. Either way I'd show them love. What I meant by those are the people who need it most is that those people need to be shown love rather than just Christians or churchgoers.

I propose that Christians need to show a revival of love. Step out of your comfort zones and show love to the homosexuals, the atheists, and the poor. Remember that you are no better than them. Love them as Jesus has loved you.

    Vish welcome to the forum....
I don't wish to be rude but it seems that you have contradicted yourself by putting a label on the groups you listed above as "sinners"......
Now how do you go about showing love to the people you have already turned off by insulting them?
It appears that they have already been condemned as "sinners" .....

Well, honestly, it is offputting to be refered to as "the homosexuals".
I am a woman... a PERSON... an individual... who happens to be bisexual.
It is a part of who I am yes, but it is by no means my "label".
I'm not one of "those people"... "the" homosexuals.
    I am me.
    I am I. not "them".

    There IS no "them".

It would be like if I referred to you as "the christians"
    or "those christians"...
instead of referring to you as an individual who happens to be a christian.

For example, "Charity" (the poster up above) is not
one of "those christians" to me.
    She is Charity.
She is a Strawberry first to me.
Sweet and red. She is a loving person.
To me personally, her christianity, is of lesser importance,
for it is something personal to HER. Not to me.
It's secondary. It's not who she is.
But only a part of who she is.
    As she defines herSelf.

Who wants to be identified by just one of their "traits"?
Especially a "trait" that you know is considered undesirable
    by the one labeling you.

I hope no one feels my posts in the Christian Directory here
    have been innapropriate.
If you do, just say so.

i was unclear when i said sinners. we are all sinners. i did not mean to label one group. What I meant is people who are ignorant of their sins. I am a sinner but I try to avoid my sins not indulge in them. I do not consider myself to be a person is who happens to be a Christian. Christianity is my primary trait and who I am. I would consider it an honor to be identified as a Christian.

This is perhaps the most difficult thing for a Christian to do, and if not for an outpouring of Grace it would be impossible. Remember, it is not enough that we stand idly by while others are being unfairly persecuted, but we must defend them. If we truly believe homosexuals are being mistreated then our opinion of them and our abhorrence at their behavior is irrelevant. We must stand between them and the crowd or we may as well pick up a stone ourselves. There is no middle ground. If, on the other hand we do not believe they are being mistreated but are crying wolf to promote a corrupting agenda, then we must defend ourselves with the only weapon at our disposal: our faith. Pray for those who persecute you and never answer evil with evil.

Many Christians try to. But some confuse love with enabling. It is with true Christian love that I affirm the moral fabric of society when I oppose the homosexual agenda & subculture and it is with true Christian love with which I affirm the teachings of the Church in regards to homosexuality and the effects it will have on the immortal soul.

Nothing but love and compassion could lead me to care.

We try. But atheists do not want our love nor God's love. But just because they don't want it can't stop it ;).

This is a joke right? Do you know anything about the Church and its posistion as the world's leader in charitable aid?

    I try.
