On a scale from 1-10, where are you on your spiritual journey?

Like, if you’re a Christian, how close are you to emulating Christ? If your a Buddhist/Hindu, how close are you to reaching a positive rebirth? Or something of the sort, you guys should get the general gist of what I’m getting at I think.

I’m at a solid 2. I’m physically unhealthy, eat and drink nothing but junk, if I eat at all. I have been spending my free time playing video games and sleeping really, don’t do too much reading anymore. Nor do I meditate, burn sage and incense while in prayer, Tai Chi, or consult the I Ching anymore. The only reason I’m not rating myself at a 1 is because I don’t lie to myself and am painfully aware of where I am at in my spiritual journey.

There was a time where I was at a strong 5. I was doing nothing but my spiritual practice and reading for a while. But at that time I was not in control of my emotions, my anger controlled me. So I was at a 5 I think.

So, what about you? Where are you at?

I stopped thinking about this all as a 'goal'.

What will happen will happen, when its time for it to happen. Until then, I'm just a tiny piece of a puzzle of countless pieces. I'm content to be an edge piece, or a non descript grey piece amidst a sea of other greys.

I just strive to enjoy the picture, even if all I can see is a glimpse or two at a time. Its all beautiful.

I have absolutely no idea, but if I had to vote, I'd go with a -1. As to observing it, I align with Just George, and it's not something I think about much.

I don't see it as a journey; whatever "it" is. :)

    I am at a 0.

I have just recovered from dealing with leaving a religion and exploring the atheistic path, and am now just having my authentic world view fall into place. I am getting back into biblical discussions, and am also researching religions of the middle east, Hinduism, Taoism, the occult, Theosophy and various other things. So I am building myself up. I am excited about the long road ahead.

I don't know. I mean I don't think about that that way. I might be coping better than when I was younger, but that is about it.

Huh. I don't even think about it like that. It's a way of life, a journey, not a destination. I'm not sure I could even find the destination if you pointed it out to me on a map. Because I would then go "but what about this spot over here?" and meander off...

I cannot understand what spirit is. It baffles me and I'm stuck.

I have no idea and it's probably better that way.

There's a story I'm reminded of but I can't find it right now. It goes something like this:

Two people were asked how close they were to the end of the spiritual path. The first was told, say 50 years and he sighed mightily. The second was told 500 more lifetimes and he started dancing for joy at how close he was to the end.

It turned out that the second one was granted full illumination because of his reaction of joy.

I would say it's approximately an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. It's an 8 because I'm still learning about my newfound beliefs. Being a Wiccan, polytheist, and spiritualist makes me fulfilled and happy. I wish I had done this years ago instead of hanging on to my former Christian faith for so long. I could have spared myself years of misery and depression if I had renounced my Christian faith much sooner.

Sounds like you're in a bit of a funk. But you seem like a capable smart dude, I think you'll figure things out. Climbing a mountain happens one step at a time. Running up a mountain is a good way to fall off the edge.

Honestly, I don't know. I've not given it any thought. Perhaps this puts me at 0. Or maybe at 10.

I'm very much in control of myself, but like you I give into recklessness. I'm good at identifying and "observing" thoughts, at the same time I allow those thoughts to ruminate. I'd say I'm at a 3 or 4. I have no idea what a 10 would look like in my spiritual journey.

I have completed the journey. Nirvana, Moksha, Jnana, Enlightenment. No rebirth.
Fairly healthy for my age, like to eat and drink junk, eat four times a day. I visit my favorite forums, no games on computer, no reading except, if required, on internet. I do not meditate or pray. Perfect 10.
