Where are our priorities? Are our priorities media driven by how much its pushed?

Sadly 14 children lost their lives in a shooting today.
It will be in the news for months and people will talk, argue, and debate about for days, if not weeks.

At least 21 dead after shooting at Texas elementary school: officials - National | Globalnews.ca

Sadly everyday 2300 children go missing. And even sadder is it wont be in the news daily, for weeks and people won't talk, argue, and debate about this hardly at all because the news doesn't make it front page news daily and run it on TV every hour.

Yeah, I think it's been known for awhile that the news is a rather profit-driven business.

Nearly 43,000 people died in car crashes last year in the US.

In my experience, the people who are willing to overlook school shootings to protect their precious guns are just as callous when it comes to roadway deaths that don't make splashy headlines.

    IMO:

Callous is a good word in this context

I hope one day science can prove who lacks love or is a callous person, and use it to blacklist them from buying, having or owning, using guns ever

I think mass media attention is encouraging for a potential killer to strike, knowing that it will bring mass media attention to this person. It's the going out in a blaze of glory syndrome in a twisted sick squirming mind that helps fuel the madness.

I think reporting, for its part, needs to return back to journalistic integrity and responsibility on how they report the news, so as not to encourage such people who think they will get mass coverage on themselves.

I think the problems begin long before the person sees being covered by the media as a benefit.
