When a religious book is not a religious book - an interesting take

Can a religious text be considered philosophy?

Mods please move as you see fit....

I ran across this while browsing - interesting take .... (about 15-16 minutes and she makes some (IMO) very relevant comments around the 5:25 minute mark)

It seems to me that the separation of religion from philosophy is a Western thing? (As does their separation from the life lived).

The All-knowing Wikipedia states there is religious philosophy as well as philosophy of religions, although I have to admit that I'm not knowledgeable to take apart either. The Hare Krishnas promote their Bhagavad Gita As It Is with a Herrmann Hesse quote:

The marvel of the Bhagavad-Gita is its truly beautiful revelation of life's wisdom which enables philosophy to blossom into religion.
