I didn't finish high school.
I got expelled from a boarding high school, and being a ward of the Children's Aid, that was the end for me. Except I kept trying on my own (after some years of confusion on the streets), and managed rather well. With a Grade 11 education, and a lot of hard work, I managed to become the Vice President of Information Technology for one of Canada's largest insurance companies, and have a few software patents to my name.

I checked "high school diploma." I started a semester in college, but learning in a classroom setting was never my forte, so I left.

I noted that some have a BS in field of study. Me, I just have BS.

The first part was "Professor".
I don't remember the rest.
I took some university courses at night, while I was architecting an insurance system. One of my professors was actually a Catholic priest. I wrote him an essay on the topic of "What Paul Meant by Salvation, taken from the authentic Pauline Texts."

He gave me an A Plus, with this comment written in his own hand: "This is a brilliant piece of exegesis, and you're going to hell."

Still have that paper...

I don't know, I'm just curious about this.

For comparison, in the United States the levels of educational attainment are roughly (per 2015 analysis of the census):

  • 88% are high school graduates
  • 59% have some college
  • 42% have an associates
  • 32% have a bachelor's
  • 12% have an advanced degree
There are no significant differences by sex assigned at birth, though there are significant differences by race unfortunately. Data from (PDF file): https://www.census.gov/content/dam/Census/library/publications/2016/demo/p20-578.pdf

How do we stack up?

We're quite an educated group.

Was nearly expelled from HS for non-attendance
