I don't own a car and refuse to buy one. Oh, and I just adore sorting my paper, metal and plastics. That has got to be almost nirvanic bliss. My absolute favorite is going to pick things up that the recycling/garbage truck refuses to take (that I left out). Just a little piece of heaven really.

I am a recycling nerd. Just ask my husband. We just went to the coast for 4 days...I brought home to recycle every single piece of paper, cardboard, plastic container or anything else we used to put in the bin. Fortunately Rick is supportive.

i want to be green i really do but it's hard to see the point when govenments arn't making it easy for anyone to be green yet they seem to expect us to, i would love a worldwide no car day, just one day to see what would happen. i'd love to see planes gotten rid of even more so, and i'd love to be able to see the sence in shooting rocket upon rocket to space when we have our very own planet to be worrying about rather then engulfing it in needles pollution from those awfull things! I don't see the need to find new planets to save us, we could do that perfectly well on our own planet if we could let go of our egos for one minute! Sometimes it sucks to be human and be part of a well oiled self destruction machine!

For awhile, I used to worry about similar problems that I couldn't possibly solve myself and there looked no hope for the rest of the world to try, until I realized that I haveto start with my personal sphere of influence; in the world that is personally around me instead of trying to change something half way across the world.

I used to worry about the same thing you did, until I realized that I don't have to change the world, just my sphere of influence.

it's just so frustrating when it's as clear as day for everyone to see yet world leaders seem to have rose tinted glasses on, i swear i'll start a revolution in this country before i die as i refuse to let government after government destroy what has been given to us, we have a great gift yet we seem to be hell bent on creating our demise. As ive said in previous posts sometimes i severely doubt that we are the most intelligent on this planet, resourceful yes but far from inteligent we are!

Is there any form of personal recycling programs where you live? Here in Oregon the garbage man picks up all our recycling. Do you have an easy method handy to you?

we do have a fortnightly service, one week for recycling and the other for normal rubish but in the shared house that me and my fiance live in it's not feasable to be able to do that, we have so little space as it is that its impossible to even think of gathering recyclable stuff for a week and even if we could for the greater good that it would or in reality wouldnt do i really cant see the point, if the government turned around and said 'right you will recycle and you don't have a choice' and put on a weekly service to be able to do that then that would work, as it is its causing more problems then it's solving.

If you saved all your recyclables for the two week period....you'd be surprised how much accumulates. That fact is what got me going in the first place. Once I started saving all the items our recycler took and saw how much I had been throwing away, I felt guilty not recycling.

We simply use a large trash can and throw everything in it to be recycled. But then we live in an area with combined recycling where nothing has to be sorted. Makes it much easier to throw paper in with plastic and tin cans.

I recycle... but not enough. I need to do more.

However, I do something else: I don't buy junk! I still own the very first pair of fins I bought from 1969. Sure, I have out grown them and I have had to replace them. Somehow, I am still diving with Jet Fins though. There are lots of items that I bought when I was but a kid. If you buy the highest quality you can afford, you may not have to buy again.

Well, I love drinking green tea..(but I love white tea even better)..

I recycle, I love smashing my cans and big plastic containers.

I like to walk when I feel well.

Oh, and on St Patty's Day, I drink large amounts of green beer.
